Step back in time
The only thing I disliked about the place was the limited wi-fi; you could get service, but the signal was weak.
What I liked about the place: everything--from coffee (bring your own food) on the front porch in the morning, the location convenient to the lighthouse and a walk along the coast road, a restaurant close by, rooms clean and period-appointed, good service and helpful staff, cool and pleasant afternoons on the front porch (bring your own wine and newspapers), quiet evenings in the parlor (if the night is cool, get them to light the fireplace) surrounded by quiet music and nostalgia.
One woman came to sit by us on the front porch, declaring herself to be bored out of her mind. We were politely sympathetic--there is nothing much to do. But, then, that's why we'v gone there every June for the past half dozen years: to sit back, relax, and just let the world pass by. Staying at Hotel Pemaquid is always the highlight of our annual Maine vacation.
