Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham Carolina Beach, Carolina Beach

I travel a lot for business and I have never encountered what I saw at Microtel. The hotel seemed nice and the room appeared clean too. When I was checking out, I was checking under the bed to make sure I didn't leave anything behind. Underneath the bed was a used condom. I reported this to the front office and they apologized but would not offer some sort of credit. The lady at the front jokingly asked me if I had moved it. They had told me I should have inspected the room before hand. I had been traveling all day long, the last thing I want to do is someone else's job. I had spoken to management but they did nothing as well. I will be taking this to corporate, DO NOT stay at this hotel. Completely digusting.

Friendly and courteous. We booked at a higher rate through hotels dot com and when we arrived found they offered a lower rate day of check -in. Manager refunded hotels dot com price and charged us the advertised rate for the day (they make no secret about this "day of check-in" rate as it is on the front LED sign). Room was clean and staff was friendly. Breakfast was wonderful. We stayed one additional time here and had great results again. We ended up buying a second home in Carolina Beach and we make sure and recommend the Microtel to all looking for an affordable place to stay that is clean and well mannered. Especially if you are coming off season, make sure and get their rates directly and not through hotels dot com. It's a lot less expensive in most cases.

This beautiful and cozy hotel has everything for travelers. Beautiful outside pool, very clean and freienly staff. In the morning we were surprised with a buffet breakfast fron boiled eggs, cereal, otmeal, juices, toasted to mention a few. Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told one price when I made the reservation for two rooms. I was told one total and asked several times for the person on the phone to repeat the total so I could write it down and be sure. I was also told there would be a confirmation email, which I never received. Upon check in, the rooms had not been cleaned yet, so we had to wait. The total also came up to twice what I was told it would be, and we were charged extra for more than one person staying in a double room. How can you assume only one person is staying in a double room? I was not asked how many people were in my party and I was not told there would be extra charges. The total was twice what I was told over the phone, plus the extra charges. The manager was extremely rude despite my attempts to politely ask what went wrong. I was told I could stay and accept the situation or leave. "You can stay or you can leave right now." I was also told that I was responsible for knowing the correct prices and knowing about the extra charges. The manager said "You must not travel much." I do travel. A lot. I've been a military dependent for 21 years, as have the people with me. The wifi was not functioning either, and the manager could not fix it. After being treated horribly, we moved to a different hotel, but spent an hour with the manager telling us that all of our banks were "rejecting" our refunds. After calling my bank, I learned she never attempted to refund us. We were lied to and the manager attempted to charge us double, and then not refund us. Cleanliness is not a strong suit of this hotel either, even the lobby was unclean not to mention the rooms. Also overheard manager telling other patrons that the rooms they wanted were taken (by me and my party) but that they could have the rooms next door for half price, and that the rooms I rented were faulty (bathroom issues) anyway. Needless to say this was the worst experience I have ever had and I will not return. I recommend everyone look elsewhere. I have never been treated worse at any establishment in my life. And the entire party was made up of soldiers, spouses and children of soldiers. Wonderful way to show appreciation for the troops. Vacation was totally ruined.

This place is the best. We stay there about 4 times per year. I can't believe these negative reviews I am reading. The managment both manager and assistant manager are always very friendly. They even remember our two year olds name when we go there. Sheryl (the assistant manager) and Sue (the manager) Have never failed to greet us. If we are planning to go there and they don't have any availability, we wait to go. We will not consider staying anywhere else.

THE MANAGER DIDNT EVEN GREET US AT CHECK IN. THE ONLY SERVICE FROM HOUSEKEEPING WE HAD FOR FOUR NIGHTS WAS CLEAN TOWELS. THEY DID NOT MAKE THE BEDS. I FOUND A BED BUG IN THE ROOM, OUR STAY WAS SO VERY YUCKY

Just stayed at Microtel in Carolina Beach this past weekend. My room was broken into by a thief with the assist of employees. There was no forced entry at all. Employees were giving thiefs keyed cards to the rooms so they could get in while you were at the beach. I had cash, credit card ( which was used 4 times on the island the day of the theft ) and checks from check book. Management was no help in trying to get to the bottom of what happened. The thief left thier cell phone in the room by accident which had the general managers personal cell phone number programed in as a contact. Police believe it is a inside job betwwen thiefs and staff at the hotel. General manager was going to charge me extra for checking out early! This place is a joke and I would stay as far away as possible!!!!!

I have stayed here many times ,but the last two have been really bad and I don't plan to go back. Smoke smell is bad at the place even in nonsmoking room.The last time we stayed here they put us in a smoking room and told us they couldn't change it.The people in the next room over was very loud and it just got were it's not worth the money paid. I know they have changed over which now seem that the people who work there are more rude and not very friendly and the price seem to me to go up.

We spent a week in October at this Microtel. I had out patient surgery in Wilmington. The entire staff couldn't have been nicer! Our room was clean and comfortable. The property and pool area was always kept clean. No, it's not on the beach, but public areas with ample parking a few minutes away. The breakfast area was well stocked and if anything missing, it was quickly replaced. Fresh coffee available 24/7 in the breakfast area. As I have to go back for Drs appts., we will always make our reservations here. They do have wireless internet available.

We love this hotel and have been 2 years in a eow but I am not sure if I will go back due to the way the manager of the hotel treated my family. Our room was not clean and we asked for help with it and we also asked for towles to the pool......the manager did not know that my children and I were standing in the hall way and we heard her complaining to the housekeeper about it and putting us down. My children after that no longer wanted to be there and were afraid to go to the pool or anything out of fear that they would upset her again. It made the rest of our stay rather sad. When something was said to her about it at check out she got all rude with me and basically let me have it. I called customer service but I never even got a returned call. I was very upset by it all. I would rather pay more and not have to put up with such a rude lady! Even the hotel satff said she was always like this and had hopes that if enough people complained she would bed fired but I guess no such luck. As long as she is there we will not returm!!!!!
