Superior event location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/08
The Mansion has excellent food for any event. Sleeping rooms are very spacious with beautiful decor. The staff is very accommodating. I've stayed there twice and have enjoyed both trips.

My new home in Austin
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/08
I have worked with the Mansion and Sterling Affairs Staff over the last 2 years and I cannot say enough about the great quality of service I consistently receive. Not only does the hotel staff remember and place me in the room which I prefer to stay, but they typically greet me by name when I walk into the reception area. I have definitely made this my new hotel of choice when traveling to Austin. I have planned two events in the Event Center and the entire staff, sometimes including the owner of Sterling Affairs, meets with me on every trip to Austin. The food is always incredible from the banquet service to the restaurant, room service and great bar menu. I even appreciate the attention to detail they put into the golden Oscar chocolate statues on our desserts. The staff is professional and always willing to accommodate our last minute changes, while they keep a smile on their faces. Oh, and they all greet me by name as well. If you are a meeting planner, you should contact this property for your next event, as you too will be amazed at their attention to detail. If you are a visitor, you are in for a treat!

Oscar Winning Performance
By Marie, 2/28/08
I can't think of a better facility to host TACVB's Annual Oscar Party! The property itself is stunning; but when you factor in the superb culinary experience, the amazing staff, and extraordinary service - The Mansion at Judge's Hill is in a class by themselves. If there were an Oscar for Best Supporting Property - they would win! I love that each year, we work with the same staff...and receive the same great experience. Kuddos to the entire staff. Each of your personal attention to our needs does not go unnoticed, or unappreciated.

the food is no good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/07
I attended a wedding that was catered by Sterling Affairs, and it was horrible!!! Do not use them as a catering company! The food was barely warm, no flavor, and I asked one of the cooks how they made there hollandiase and he said it was a powdered mix. Do you believe that?

The kitchen managers "chefs" are overpaid catering prep cooks
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/2/07
I liked leaving, and I will enjoy never going back. Oh, I also attended the Oscar party recently and the food was inedible, how can any food service establishment get away with serving that quality of food?

What Happened to the food?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/16/07
I have been coming to the Mansion for a while now, and it seems like the food quality has taken a turn for the worse. I asked the server what happened to the chefs, and he said they had moved on and there was a new guy in charge!! What happend to the beet salad that had different styles, and types of beets on it? Why is there a spring mix salad on the menu? Why was my warm app. cold? Why was my filet overcooked and underseasoned? Why did it take forever to get my food? This new guy in charge needs to go, I want the old chefs back, and I want good food again at the Mansion! Until the Mansion finds a chef who is competent, steer clear of this place!!!!

Average Food, Extra Expensive
By LN1 Nichols, 12/24/06
The Mansion at Judges Hill is located in a very charming mansion at the corner of MLK Blvd. and Rio Grande in Austin, Texas. The restaurant’s décor is elegant and classic. The service was wonderful. The staff is very friendly and responsive to the needs of their customers. The menu changes from time to time based upon the desires of the restaurant’s chef. Do not count on the restaurant’s menu online accurately reflecting what is being served at any given time. The restaurant offers a “fine-dining” experience with a menu that normally includes a three course selection that often offers your choice of seafood, fresh water fish, steak, Quail, and other dishes. A very limited desert menu is available. The cost of a meal at The Mansion at Judges Hill’s restaurant is out of this world. A three-course meal can cost $55 before adding drinks, a desert, a tip, and tax. I attended a pre-Christmas dinner with a party of 10. The cost - over $560. Bottom line – while dining at The Mansion at Judges Hill was a fairly pleasant experience, one can get better value for their dollar. For example, Ruth Crists provides most diners with a menu of greater value and variety.

Better Places Out There
By Brent, 7/19/06
The Hotel itself was nice from the Outside, but that is what they want you to think. The walls are paper thin, you can hear people in the next room. The worst part is that you can hear the maids cleaning the rooms early the next morning, so if you are trying to sleep in, dont stay at this hotel. There are much nices hotels where you wont hear a peep. When we checked in, no one told me where my room was or where to park. The people working the desk seemed like college dropouts from partying too much on 6th street in years past. They said nothing except, "which credit card are you using"? They need to be a lot more professional. Another request I had is to have a quiet room for me and my wifes 1st anniversary. They put me on the second floor facing the courtyard. Good location, but they forgot to inform me that there was going to be a wedding reception deep into the night playing loud music. I called to complain, but the music kept going. They told me it would stop at 11:15, but heard it along with drunk people talking outside until about 2AM The room itself is nice, but the Four Seasons down the road is so much better. It will cost you a little more, but you get what you pay for there. Stay away from this hotel. If you choose to stay here, you have been warned!!!

Great Place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/05
This is simply the best hotel in Austin. Beautiful rooms, good value ($149 and no charge for parking),friendly staff (Chris, Dominic) and a great location (downtown but very quiet).
