After reading many of the pleasant reviews, we were excited to stay at this inn. I don't know where these people stayed but what we experienced seemed like a totally different place. We were actually scheduled for three nights and walked out after the first. (We intended to spend our anniversary and Thanksgiving away but we just went home.) On our way out, a prospective guest was inquiring about the rates and our comments sent her away quickly.
Where to start? When we arrived, it was like entering Fort Knox and we were the unwelcome intruders. Signs were posted throughout, informing us of what not to do. (We did get some valuable tourist information and directions but we left before we enjoyed most of this.) The entryway was cold and dark as was our room. When the heat and hot water eventually began to work, things improved but the room definately was showing its age. The mattress on the bed sagged tremendously in the middle and the chairs in the room were old and sat out. There were ample television channels but the tv itself was perhaps 13 inches. In the bathroom, there was mold along the floor of the tub and the hair dryer was poor. The towels were motel quality. The water pressure in the shower was very good, however. We were up most of the night because a ticking and tolling clock along with footsteps were easily heard throughout the house. In the morning, we looked at the breakfast, not expecting anything, and found only coffee, store bought danish and some bread. When we tried to check out, a sign on the table stated desk closed and the bell had been removed. We left a note on the desk indicating our reason for the premature departure.
These types of establishments tend to focus on hospitality and the little touches but we felt none of that here.
