6 reviews for Glen Ellis Family Campground, Glen
best of the best for a reason .
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/09
Camping is camping and with two rivers on site you cannot really complain if the weather sometimes get the upper hand. This is camping at its best and idel for familys and couples . We have camped for donkeys years and have traveled around the states but we stay here year after year for good reasons . Only minor problem with the very clean bathrooms are privacy in the loo , doors and curtain wall are 12 inchs to low but campers from peatown are happy with that.If you go by reviews you should give glen ellis a try . Bring a boat, not a camper!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/09
We were so excited to go to this campground which we have seen wonderful reviews for. Unfortunately, our site was shaped like a bowl, covered in mud even after three hot sunny days, and then flooded with six inches of water after a short thunderstorm, and did NOT drain after eight hours. Some sites looked beautiful, but ours was tiny, muddy and surrounding by party types which blasted machine-gun rap until the 10:00 curfew. The pool was clean and spacious, the surroundings are beautiful, the rec hall was very nice, lots of area for play and hiking. The big downside was the awful site and the bathrooms smelled of urine and had lots of trash in the showers. We left two days before we were supposed to because our site was totally unusable. My shoes that were left on a rug by our camper door literally floated out across the road...a total mess! The owner agreed he should never have even rented this site and but he did and it wrecked our vacation.

Great family campground
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/07
Beautiful location with the converging rivers and the mountains all around! We go with a large group (20-25)in a wide age range (3 to 70s years) and have a great time in the group area on the sunny field. Before our last trip ended we unanimously voted to register early for this year! You do have to be careful in a rainstorm as some sites or portion of sites become little streams. If you are camping on the field and the weather forecasts high temps and sun, make sure to have a big tarp or screen room to get some relief from the mid day sun. The playground and pool are a big hit with the kids, but I recommend some quite time playing in the pools along the rivers edge. Great for exploring and spying on the fish! And the area is very safe for the little ones to bike and play. The older crowd appreciates the family atmosphere, unlike some of the beer-festival atmosphere at other campgrounds we've stayed at in southern NH. Lots to do in the outdoors nearby. If it does rain, there is always shopping, dinner out or a movie to catch close by in North Conway.

Simply the best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/06
My son and I have been for the past 8 years. The sites are great and the staff couldn't be better. We love New Hampshire and this campground is part of the reason. In all the years we haven't had any bad experiences there.

Excellent Family Camping
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/06
We have been going to Glen Ellis for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. The owners are friendly and helpful and take great pride in the property. The location is perfect. It's easy to find; there are many family attractions, hiking trails, restraunts and shopping near by, yet the property is away from the main road and traffic noise. We especially enjoy the tent sites on the Ellis River side. The river is great for tubing and fishing. As an added treat, the Conway Scenic Railroad train runs along the river on the opposite bank. The kids still run to wave everytime they hear the whistle. These sites are also close to the built in pool, bath house, and showers. All, by the way, are kept very clean. The owners take great care in maintaining a family friendly atmosphere, so if you're looking for a place to party, this probably isn't it. Take a walk in the field first thing in the morning or on a starry night, and you'll continue all the way to the office to book for the next year. MS - Salem MA

Excellent Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/06
This place was so clean! And on top of that everything was really NICE...the pool, the open fields, showers, bathrooms.... Even the office store had everything that you might have forgotten (for a reasonable price). It is the perfect location for visiting StoryLand because you don't have to go through that awful North Conway traffic! The restaurant across the street The Margarita Grille was also a 'find'. Also...it really was all 'families'...very nice people, no loud noise or public drinking etc.
