This beautiful camping facility offers guests 125 sites to relax on as well as storage, internet access, wood for sale, swimming, playground, cottages, and boats for rent. Also on site are hot showers and a snitary dump station.
We had the best time at Lenwood! The lake and grounds are extremely clean and the management was extremely friendly and wanted to make sure we had a great camping experience. Although there are quite a few rules, they were evenly enforced and made us feel safe while on the property. It was nice to go to a place that didn't put up with inconsiderate people. We will definitely be coming back next summer!!!
If you want a quiet, clean family camping trip...this is your place. There are rules in place which made me feel safe and secure. I appreciated the fact that there were no loud partiers on our getaway. My boys had a great time fishing (caught over 30 little blues in a matter of 2 hours off the fishing pier), catching frogs and swimming in the lake. The owners were very friendly and kept the grounds very clean. Costs a quarter for 10 minute shower. Water was hot and I appreciated the heated, indoor comfort station. Very cool little hiking area, even some short mountain bike hills. Sites a little closer than I'd like but all in all, we had a great time. Can't wait to visit again.
There are rules about barking dogs and loud pipes on bikes, visitors must leave at 7:30 pm. This is the reason I stay at this campground, my kids are safe and we can get some relaxation without drunks firing up their Harleys at 4 in the morning to leave their hosts' party. If you like that atmosphere- head a little further north. I have been staying here for 8 years, and it is by far the best kept grounds and safest family atmosphere for families I have seen.
Likes: Quiet, clean
Dislikes: Strict management, not friendly, too rigid, in your face style discouraged me from ever going back. this attitude affected the campers who generally also were unfriendly. Very poor atmosphere. Also pretty pricey.
Well, we didn't even make it to the campground. I have grown up camping and my husband and I camp very often with our 3 young children and my family. We also belong to a camping club. I was told by the club (which is mainly older people...pretty low key) to not even bother checking this place out...but I did anyway. When I was asked if we had any pets, I said yes, my sister has a very sweet German Shepard that would join us. SHE and her family were turned down, but the 'gentleman' I spoke with really tried to get my family to still come. He didn't get it that my sisters family and my family were camping together...hello! I appreciate rules, please don't get me wrong. But I quote "due to insurance and public perception we will not allow a german shepard"...when I questioned insurance, he backed down and said "well, public perception, and that you can't change". Very odd... We won't camp, or try to get our club (so like 14-20 units per outing) to camp here...ever! Best of luck, sir!
Love the clean family getaway! Quiet, peaceful, no loud crazy parties or barking dogs. Love the beach and people. I have a 5 year old and as a single mom, I couldn't thank the owners enough for the rules! If you are looking for a peaceful family campground this is the place!!
We just love being at Lake Lenwood The owners are pleasant and really care you have a great experience. The campground bathrooms all have flush toilets and are extremely clean. The fishing is great...fish deep this is a "Kettle Moraine" lake and is about 5o feet deep. We have been going for years. Yes, there are rules, like any business..but if you want a true peaceful "non-manufactured" camping experience THIS is THE place. And, you will always feel safe, especially if you have small children. The owners really watch if there is any bad behavior, so we as parents can TRULY relax. Just a beautiful land and lake!!!!!
We were in town for the annual geocachers Cache Bash. We chose this property because it had some of the best reviews and was closest to the location of the event that we were attending. The rules are terribly strict and evidentally don't apply to everyone. Several people had 2 cars to a site when we were told that we could not park our 2nd vehicle onsite. We were even told how to park the one vehicle that could remain on our site. When I called to reserve we were told we wouldn't have to pay for all 4 children to stay, but when I reserved the site, I had to pay. $68/night is ridiculous for something that hasn't been updated since 1970. The pay shower was horrible - the water smelled like rotten eggs. We will be in town again, but will never stay at this campground. The only thing it has going for it was the location and it was maintained fairly well. Update the facilities if you're going to charge a premium to camp at your facility and don't be so crazy about the rules. You have to sign a piece of paper saying you understand and have read the rules. The owners seem to be control-freaks. After getting home and taking two of the children to the doctor for an illness that was caught while in the campground, we found that the smell from the hot water in the showers was actually from bacteria in the water.
