Chautauqua Heights Campground, Dewittville

I AGREE THAT CAMPGROUNDS NEED RULES AS THEY ALL DO AND ALL THE RULES WHERE EVER YOU GO ARE JUST COMMON SENSE AND DON'T NEED POUNDED INTO MOST PEOPLES HEADS! I AGREE THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE "NUTS" FROM THE NO SPLASHING OR HAVING FUN IN THE POOL OR THE YOUNG GIRL(15 OR SO) WOULD BLOW A WHISTLE AND YELL AT YOU " BY NAME" AS EVERYONE HAD TO SIGN IN AND GIVE HER YOUR FULL NAME BEFORE YOU COULD SWIM AND HAD TO CHECK OUT WHEN YOU WERE LEAVING THE POOL! AT THE CHECK-IN IN THE OFFICE I WAS TOLD OF ALL THE RULES INCLUDING THAT I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE MY CAR(WE TOLD HER THAT WE DID NOT HAVE A CAR,JUST BIKES)OUTSIDE OF THE CAMPGROUND AND BRING PEOPLE BACK THROUGH THE CARD GATE WITHOUT SIGNING THEM IN AND PAYING $4.00 PER PERSON THAT THEY WOULD BE TRESSPASSING AND SHE WOULD HAVE THEM ARRESTED!!!(SHE WAS POINTING TO THE RULES ON THE WALL BEHIND THE DESK) WOW!! I HAD 2 DIFFERENT FRIENDS STOP TO VISIT WITH US AT DIFFERENT TIMES ON SATURDAY, $4.00 PER PERSON. 2 PEOPLE ON A MOTORCYCLE($8.00) AND 4 PEOPLE IN A CAR($16.00) =$24.00. OUT OF THE 6 PEOPLE 2 OF THEM WENT INSIDE OF OUR COACH AND USED OUR BATHROOM,OTHER THAN USING THIER WATER TO FLUSH THAT WAS ALL MY VISITORS USED OF THE FACILLITYS.WAY TO MUCH MONEY JUST FOR A VISIT. WE HAVE BEEN TO A BUNCH OF RESORTS AND CAMPGROUNDS AND HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS PLACE.CAMPING IS SUPPOSE TO BE FUN AND SHE CREATES A BAD FEELING UPON CHECK IN. WE JUST LISTENED TO HER AND LOOKED AT EACH OTHER. I TRYED TO JOKE WITH HER BUT SHE WOULD NOT SMILE NOR DID SHE FIND ME FUNNY AS HER FACE SHOWED.IN CLOSING CAN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HER HUSBAND AS WE NEVER MEET HIM BUT SHE SHOULD BE IN CHARGE OF A "JAIL" NOT A CAMPGROUND!

We just returned from a week camping here for a family reunion. The campground is very clean and quiet. Nice, clean pool. After reading some of the other reviews, I think they are the ones who are "nuts". We had campfires every night. Quiet hours are from 11pm-7am (same as EVERY other campground I have ever visited). The only time I saw the owner at night was when my parents had a minor emergency and she came out to their site to personally give them directions to a nearby store. This was well after she had closed up after a long day. She could have give them directions over the phone, but believed it would be easier to tell them in person. Above and beyond, if you ask me. My parents owned a campground for over 25 years, and her rules are no different than theirs were. Some people don't believe they should have to follow somebody else's rules. I would recommend this campground to anybody! We really enjoyed our stay.

We love comming to Chautauqua Hts. It is always clean and a great family oriented campground. Anita & Bill are great host! Our family has been returning for over 10 years! ... need we say any more?

Very clean nice campground, but the woman in the office is a nut. The "RULES" are over the top! She lurks around at night making sure her RULES are not broken.

Things at this campground were very nice. A pool to swim, but only if there are two adults over 21 in the pool area and don't forget to not splash. The owners are really nice, if you like the kind of people that stay up at all hours of the night walking around just to find people that break rules. Quiet hour starts at 10 don't forget, so if you want to have a fire at night don't expect to have a few drinks along with that too. This was a nice place to stay, it just had a lot of rules. It was clean and for the most part, everyone was nice.

This is the nicest campground around. Extremely well maintained, wonderful playground and pool for the kids, all you need at the camp store and the best owners you can find. You will absolutely love it here.
