This place is awesome. The people are wonderful. The Lake is crystal clear & full of fish, I highly reccomend camping here. Very family friendly. Just minutes from Detroit & Greenfield Village.

WONT EVER GO BACK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/08
The staff was VERY RUDE! All Gravel roads & cars driving fast blowing the dirt everywhere!. Paid 39.00 for a site that was definatly not worth it. No activities. Closed office before 7pm on a Saturday night and couldnt get wood for a fire. Would NEVER go back!

I love this campground
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/07
I have stayed in the Detroit Greenfield KOA on a monthly basis every summer for the past 6 years. I live in the area and love the convenience of going out to the campground any time. The campground is mostly wooded and the lake is beautiful. The staff are friendly and the property is well maintained. My family and friends who visit me at the campground can't believe how beautiful it is. I read the other reviews and all of the staff who were rude or unfriendly are no longer employed there. The managers of the campground pride themselves on letting the campers enjoy themselves, but do not allow rule breakers. The rule breakers are the ones who make it unpleasant to camp. If you live near Detroit and don't want to drive a long way to get away from it all. The Detroit KOA is a great place to camp.

Won't ever go back!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/06
Was going to Michigan for work. I called to get a monthly quote was told over phone $200 deposit, $520 month, + electric.(deposit was to come off next month). Checked in and was only charged $490/month + deposit. Went to pay next months rent and explained that we might not be there for a full month, was told that it would be prorated and would be given a refund (deposit still didn't come off, was told would come off at check out). Checked out on July 15th, and because we didn't stay for 2 months rent went from $490 to $700/month. ha ha We are talking about a spot to park a trailer not to rent a trailer!!! Plus the electric was $54.01 for 1 month. We ended up paying a total of $1180 for 1 month and 11 nights. Never got but $140 of the deposit back. Come on people this is highway robbery!!! I could understand if we rented the whole trailer off them!! I have called KOA headquarters and this is being investigated. Because no contract was signed and I was not told about rent going to $700/month. The wesite is very misleading. Talks about the nice beach. ha ha Very small area, dirty sand. No hot water in the laundry room. On July 4th weekend had trouble with electric going out. To many people for the electric to carry everyone. The only thing nice I can say is the security people (Joe and Kevin)are great!! Joe ame by all the time to just visit. Wonderful guy. We are from Kentucky (use to the country)and the location was just fine, no city noise!!

Favorite Campground for years
By AndreaB, 07/06/06
I have read a lot of negative comments about Detroit-Greenfield KOA and obviously these people haven't been there. They must be going by just one person's bad experience (I think everyone has had a negative experience at one time or another at one of their favorite places). This is a wonderful place to go, especially if you have a lake front site. The place is very well maintained. The employees are always out on their golf carts making sure the place is clean and they are on hand if you need any help. The bath/showers (even though are a little older) are cleaned and disinfected daily. The springfed lake is very clean. 1.)Someone had written about it being located by a lot of production and businesses. -When you drive into Detroit-Greenfield KOA it is full of trees, you feel like you are up north. You see no sign of the production/business world at all. 2. Another negative comment was made about a rude employee. - I will admit that there have been a couple of employees (2 or 3) that should not have been working for them over the years, but they didn't last long after the manager was informed. Anywhere you go there are going to be a couple of unsavory people. This KOA doesn't put up with people who don't abide by the rules. The safety of their guests is important. (I have seen a few people be asked to leave over the years). This campground deserves some positive reviews. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Family and friends that have visited us there couldn't believe how much it felt like up north. The surrounding outside of the campground is deceiving. Take a ride today and just check it out, you just may be surprised. (Just remember that not everyone has a new camper or may keep their site to your liking, but that doesn't make it a bad place, people are there to relax).
