Typical KOA. Clean, And Fun For The Kids.
By G Walls, 8/1/11
I have never had a bad thing to say about ANY koa, and I liked this one as well. If I were to complain about anything, it would be the lack of sewer hook ups at the site. We travel in a 40' coach, and the sewer hook up is nice to have at the site......especially when it comes to flushing the tanks at departure. We missed having it, and it might prevent us from going back there in the future. If it is not important to you.....you'll enjoy your stay. We visited with kids, and there was plenty to keep them busy.....especially the younger ones. We enjoyed the use of the volleyball court, and the kids loved the pool.

Great location, Small Sites, No Privacy, Noisy
By Cynthia B, 8/10/10
Me and my boyfriend went tent camping here for a weekend. The staff is very courteous and friendly. Checking in was fast & easy and they check every car coming and going so the place is secure. The bathrooms are typical of a campground...pretty clean for a campground, however there are only three showers stalls (women) at the bath house toward the front of the park. So get there early or take your shower at night. My boyfriend said the mens bath house reeked of urine pretty badly and said he didn't even feel comfortable being in there. They had nice services like delivering fire wood directly to your site (free of charge) and very knowlegeable about things to do in the area. Now the sites (we stayed on 69) are mainly gravel pads...no grass or dirt..just gravel...which made staking our tent a bit difficult. Now for the real cons. Quiet hours were not strongly enforced...we had people across the road from us loud and partying until 1-2am. The next night a few sites down a group had approx 3 sites and were playing music and singing along until 12am...and they were openly drinking. I like that they aren't crazy with the quiet hours...I've been some places were they don't even want you talking on your campsite. But the noise just went on too long...and we aren't old crazy folks...but the noise was excessive. The other con is that the sites are really close together and their is zero privacy.. I could hear our neighbors talking in their tents...and they weren't loud. The site was nicely shaded from the sun...but not other campers. But all in all I would return...especially to rent a cabin during the winter season..since this place is right down the street from Shawnee Mountain. I may go camping during the early season..to avoid the crowds. This was not my best camping experience....I look forward to the peace and quiet...and serenity...it wasn't found at this campground. I guess it will all depend on what you are looking for.
