Are you kidding? I spent money for this???

I disliked everything about this camp ground! It was filthy, LOUD at all times of the day AND night, bathrooms were horrible and my whole vacation A NIGHTMARE! I think they should clear the land the Lake Laurie is on and build condos or a shopping mall!

CAUTION DO NOT ENTER...
By ,
...Or "Enter at your own risk!" I really didn't like anything about this campground! I don't know where to start on what I didn't like!! Let's start with Check In at the Security Guard Shack. No one had a clue what was going on. They gave us the wrong parking pass, forgot to return my drivers license and handed me a paper to sign with the rules, but I didn't have a chance to read the rules?? Then the rest of the Staff don't have a clue what is going on, but they stand in the middle of the roadway and stop you from going further down the road, only to wave you on when you get up to them. You can only have one car per site even if there is room for more. The extra vehicle has to be parked 10-20 minutes away in an open field. None of the campsites were raked out of leaves and when we got to the site to put the trailer on it, we had to wait 45 minutes while the maintenance man raked our site and complained about his job, the campground and his coworkers. The water is not for drinking or domestic purposes, including washing dishes. The water had a foul odor and yellow color, there was little to no water pressure, the water had lots of air in the pipes and it burned my eyes and made my skin itchy when I bathed!! The bathrooms were beyond filthy...more of a HEALTH HAZARD!! The bathrooms were more like out houses or Port A Johns and smelled like raw sewage all the time. There was not one toilet that wasn't backed up or that would flush. Some of the toilets were overflowing with sewage on the floors. The urinal in each bathroom didn't flush and was usually clogged with toilet paper. The sinks were always filled with paper towels and soaking wet. The floors were constantly muddy and covered in paper towels. The new private bathrooms were like rivers always flooded and some of the shower heads were cracked and gave the wall a shower, but not you! When I called the first day to ask when the bathrooms would be cleaned after waiting 6+ hours, I was asked why by the employee that answered the phone. I explained to her that the bathrooms by our site were very dirty and had not be cleaned all day. She replied "no one else has called!" I countered that with, "well I am calling you now and making you aware of it." Her reply was "well, they will get there when they can get there!" She didn't like when I said that the Health Department would not like the standards of the bathroom...the bathrooms were never cleaned that night. Maintenance showed up, but did not do a thing!! Never ventured to the pool or the bathing beach area....too crowded! The Lake was nice for fishing though....some nice bass in there! None of the camp rules are enforced and none of the employees follow their own rules!! OVERALL it was a horrible vacation, a filthy, dirty, loud, overcrowded Campground that the Managers Julieann and Brent have zero control over! I would not stay there again and was disappointed...at times grossed out to allow my children to even stay there. We did leave early because of the sanitary conditions!!!

Run while you can.
By ,
The management may be smiling, but the place is still filthy and rundown. The pool has a greenish tint and feels slimy. (Looks like algae.) The lake has really cool stuff to play on -- if you can get near it. The beach is filthy with goose and seagull poop which is probably contaminating the water, and the sand hornets are everywhere. (Simply rake the beach 1 or 2x a day and solve those problems.) The life jackets are ripped open and fill with water. The sites are very small, right on top of each other and barely fit a large tent, canopy and car. The small area makes it hard to have a safe fire. You neighbor is literally 10 to 15 feet from you on both sides. The toilets are horrendous -- constantly backing up on the floors, with no soap or paper to wash with and often no TP. Sure, there are a few new bathrooms but there are very, very few and the lines are 12 people deep for them around the clock. Even the new ones have 'clog' kits outside the doors of each one. When you get into one finally, the floors are covered with mud because they don't drain at all, so you can slip and fall in the soapy mud, get your clean clothes filthy, or go to the old showers. The old ones have clogged drains, black mold and rust puddles. The security does nothing about fires that are dangerously out of the fire rings. They also allow campers to go to sleep with a fire blazing, even though several different sites contacted them about it. The Christmas in July events were yucky. Even the staff said there was poor planning and poor communication. Poor information to parents left some kids with gifts from Santa and others nothing. Even a little CD player with some Christmas music playing would have given it a little help. Most kids left to go play on the playground - even the little ones because Santa sat there and said "Do you know any Christmas songs? I want to hear some Christmas songs. Sing some Christmas songs." Then he gave out gifts that parents brought with them if their kids were lucky enough. That was the big event. We were very disappointed overall and it was apparent that many others were too. There was always a line in the office of people complaining about dirty restrooms, full dump stations, noisy campers and no electric. While the employees were very pleasant, they often did nothing or were clearly overwhelmed. The place has potential. But right now it might be a health risk if they don't do something about those bathrooms and lake. They should close it for a summer, merge every 2 sites into one, fix the bathrooms and daily rake the beach. Then, they would have time to properly run a well-functioning campground. Right now, as of 7/23/07, it is still nasty. Just plain nasty. Run while you still can.

Hang in there and good things are bound to happen

Everybody, the Randals are gone! There's the new manager Dave and he is really making the campground turn around. The bath houses are clean (poor condition, but clean), the pool is clean and clear, the laundry machines work again, it's amazing how the morale has changed! Everyone including employees are happy and cheerful. I am glad the Morgan Management put someone here who listens. My electric broke and Dave was there with parts in hand. Nothing but the best. I'm waiting to see what next years rates are, but I think it's gonna get better and better.

Would look for another campground in future
By ,
Have been a patron for over 15 years. Was very disappointed this time around. The grounds are not maintained at all. Also, management is very poor. No fires where allowed due to dry weather. The campers staying a few sites down a fire going all weekend. When questioning the office, they explained that fires where definitely prohibited and that they would send security over there. 24 hours later the fire remained burning. I wonder if one had noisy neighbors how management would handle those and other kinds of problems. I really lost confidence in the place! Will be looking for another campground next time.

left in the lurch
By ,
i have been a seasonal for a long time. this season, however was a total joke. i realize that the campground was sold to morgan management over the winter, but to leave the campers like this was horrid. trash pickup was 1 time a day, if you did not recycle properly your trash was thrown up to your door. most people would leave on a sunday and return on a friday to find trash all over the site.{no consideration for the campers near by to have to see it till it was cleaned up} GREAT MANAGEMENT! you dare not go to the dock at the lake for it was covered in gull droppings. the ladder to the pool would keep braking it the deep section.the showers and the bathrooms were nasty especially the one near the bingo hall. i hope the new owners bring back to the way it use to be. the seasonals are good people
