It's hard to find long and short term RV space near everything in Sacramento.
Stillman RV Park is 10 minutes from most attractions. Sac zoo, Old Town Sac, Fishing, River Boats, city activities, etc. Yosemite, the Delta, Ski resorts a little more than 10 minutes, but still close. History is everywhere in Sacramento. Train museum, Sutter's Mill, Sutter's Fort, Pony Express, Old Town, etc.
The park is a mess. Lot of undesirable people in the p[ark. The manager does nothing about complaints. The assistant manager was observed drinking with young residents of the park and creating noise until 1:30 in the morning.
Club house has several tables & chairs, two recliners, fireplace & harth, kitchen, silky cream colored curtains, lace sheers, beautiful wall to wall painting of a vineyard, computer and internet, tv & dvd. No alcohol or smoking allowed in club house. People using clubhouse are middle age or older for most part.
The management experiments with new improvements & activities, based on the requests of the residence.
Bingo, annual traditional Thanksgiving dinner & Christmas social with Christmas Tree decorating are scheduled, as it was last year and most yrs in past.
Park maintenance is done by retired Disney World employee who takes a lot of pride in the park. Although park is in an older area and is an older park, it is clean as a whistle.
With new developments & shppg ctrs going in all around, and few parks in the area, Stillman is in high demand during the summer and less busy in the winter.
Management is very professional and accomodating, according to many of the full time residence in park. They put the residence safety and interest first.
I recently stayed there at Stillman and had quite a few problems with the management and site.I eventually made my visit short due to the lack of willingness by the manager to do anything about his unprofessional behavior and that of his staff! The put in all this NEW stuff that nobody in the park even uses. In the weeks that I was there I had not see one person using the pool table and it's just a waist of space. It was a nice cozy club house, in my past visits, with plenty of seating where they hosted a series of dinner's for the park quests. Now they do no such thing! They'd rather waist their money on pool tables and such to turn it into a bar atmosphere. With this being a RV park full of retired seniors we are past our bar hopping days!!!!! It was so much better during my past visits!! I will be looking for a new RV park when I return to Sacramento!!!! I strongly advise everyone else to do the same!!!!!
Okay so this is an update to our previous comments... overall it is a great place for longterm or short term... the people and staff are great. We really love the security of the gated community and the beauty that comes with a small community. I don't have anything derogatory to say about it... it is an older community, I can't wait to see the new updates. If you plan to stay in sacramento for visiting or whatever this would be a great central location and cozy place to go. Just make sure to make reservations because they seem to fill up quick. The helpful friendly staff are onsite 24/7 another added bonus. Have a wonderful day!!!
We visited this year feb. 2007 it was a small community, we just embarked on the full-time rv with our family, it is gated and the people staying there seem to stay to themselves, it used to be an adult community however they have decided to allow children under the new management. we have searched other communities in the sacramento area and by far this appears to be the number one pick so far.if you are looking for cozy it seems to be the place to be, if you are looking for upscale with activities and fun you are probably in the wrong place. We are KOA members and good sams club members, this place is cute, small, clean and quiet...i hope it stays this way even with the planning of upgrades.
Stillman RV Park is a nice place. While the area could be better, it's very nice and quiet inside the park. Gated and fully walled, so it's a different world in here. There are many trees that offer great shade, there's a heated swimming pool and they just added a Jacuzzi. The clubhouse is nice, they have a laundry room, showers and rest rooms and they keep everything clean. There was just a change in management, and the new manager is doing a great job. He is a nice guy and goes out of his way to help. Don't let the negative comments fool you. This is a nice place, whether you want to stay long term or just overnight.
New owners as of Sept 2006 are changing Stillman for the better. Making improvements to the park like a spa in addition to the pool, putting greens, driving range, flower gardens, redecorating of the club house, daily maintenance and monthly activities for the residents. Bingo, pool table, barbecues, movie night are some of the planned activities, starting with Thanksgiving Dinner this month.
People that have lived in the park for years say they feel safe in the park. The area is an older area of Sacramento, but is conveinent to hwy 99 and more affordable that the newer areas. Within minutes to down town and all the sites and activities of Sacramento.
We have stayed at Stillman Park for the last 3 summers. This year the park has changed drastically for the worse. I understand the park sold and has new managers which seem not to care about keeping the park clean and in good repair. The restrooms have be closed for at least a month and not sure when they will get them reopened. This park is in a very bad part of town so keeping is clean and attractive should be their first priority..
