Island Resort Campground, Newark

we came to the park for a seasonal site and when we inquired about it the owers were very rude and smart to us . we drove thru the park and saw that it was not clean there was garbage that was not picked up and everyone seemed to be old . there is nothing nearby and not one bit of entertainment around. we also saw so many little bugs flying around in groups you couldnt even get out your car. and there was a aweful smell of poop or something comming from the park it was not something i would consider ill pay more elsewhere before i waste my money on this place.

WE THOUGHT THE KIDS WOULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO THE PLAYGROUND HAD PINECONES ALL OVER IT AND IT WAS NOT CLEAN THE BATH HOUSES ARE FAR AWAY AND ONLY ONE CAN USE IT AT A TIME ITS SO FAR AWAY FROM EVERYTHING AND THE FOOD IN THE STORE WS OLD

they had a large party on the lake sites and people yelling and trowing garbage all over and keeping our small children awake the grass was not mowed and i found several ticks on my dog, the people in the white truck drove fast in and out while our children were riding bikes and ther were no activies as stated on there website

Very nice campground. Probably the largest sites that we have seen. No shade and off level are the only complaints that I would have. The shade isn't much of an issue, but leveling can be. The lake is very nice and fishing is good (catch and release). A short distance from beaches and boardwalk. They are lacking on the entertainment area. A nice pool, but small. Overall, a nice, clean, place that is a short distance from OC.

We have been going to this campground for the last 2 yrs and are doing a seasonal this year(2012). I have never been to a cleaner, friendlier, and relaxing campground than this. So excited to go down in 2 months. Owners are so sweet and helpful. Make us feel like part of the family!!! Best place for kids to fish and conoe but most relaxing place for adults. Highly recommend this campground!!

We had found IRC by mistake and was very glad we did. Could not give one bad complaint about them. The owners are the nicest people in the world. I read other reviews saying not many kids and not really meeting anyone. Everytime my familg goes there, I think there are more kids than adults sometimes. Yes they do have entertainment on holiday weekends and would recomend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice place to relax

This was definitely a campground that was different then what I was used to. The sites are extremely large. Every site is the same size and very easy to put any size trailer on, we have a 25' Coachmen travel-trailer. I guess the first thing that stood out was there were basically no children, may 3 or 4 that I saw all wkend. If your looking for a place where it is extremely quiet and really no interaction with people than this is the place for you!! There is absolutely no shade!! Every site is in the sun, really no exception. The lake is beautiful but your not allowed to swim in it unless your a goose, poop everywhere!!! I'm not saying this is a bad place to stay, it's just different. No entertainment, just a general store and a bar & grill. But I only saw people taking food to go, the place was empty. I'm used to friendly people and things to do when we go camping. We have met some really nice people while camping, you don't get that feeling here. The bathrooms are clean, no complaints! They have about 6 ( I may be off on that # it could be 4). but it's just bathrooms with a toilet, sink and shower in each, there free and air conditioned. they pick up trash throughout the day. the staff are o.k. the women that sit in the rockers inside the store are very friendly, don't really see anyone else. I don't think we'll be staying here again, not for any bad experiences, the location is great to Asseteague Island, about 10 miles, there's really nothing to do there, you can fish in there catch and release lake but that's about it, the pool was pretty much empty and it was about 104 degrees that weekend. Looked kinda clean. At least there weren't a bunch of kids splashing around. I'm sure this is the perfect place for someone who wants to go away and not bothered.

We loved The Island Resort. We made plans for another more commercial resort and somehow the reservations got messed up. We found the IRC and turns out we were the very first campers as they had just opened. What a blast. We had the pick of sites and it was surreal being the only family in the campground!! The owners were the SWEETEST people we had ever met. Campground was clean and and very nice. We still laugh about the messed up reservations and being the sole campers( for a couple of days) at this excellant campground.. Good luck to the owners and may you have many years of happy camping. We loved the serenity of being 10 minutes from Ocean City traffic and the quiet atmosphere of the lake that surrounds the campsites.....It really feels like an Island!
