Some of the best camping in the area!
My husband and I went camping on our honeymoon. We were really poor and we felt like we just had to do something. I had been going up to Guerneville since I was a child to visit my grandparents, so I was fairly familiar with the area. We picked Casini on a whim, and we were so happy that we did!
My husband's not a great camper, but I've been going back on my own almost every year since then. Casini is a wonderful place, still family-owned as far as I know. It's clean and well-run, and central to so much that the area has to offer - well, I'm not a drinker so I don't visit the wineries, but I do kayak, and Casini is right on the Russian River. A few years ago I went all the way to the sea and back - though I started late and got back after dark - but it was a beautiful paddle, not too strenuous and of course no whitewater. The environment is lovely, there's never anyone "weird" there, and they tend to draw a lot of people like me who return again and again over the years.
Guerneville is very close, and there are some fun shops and restaurants there, plus Bodega Bay and environs are a short drive. The campground itself has a wonderful little store right there on the premises, with everything you need. There's a clean laundry room, and good facilities for tents or RV's. I have a 20-foot travel trailer and I have my favorite spots that I like to ask for.
Anyway, well worth a look see, if you're planning to go camping up in the area.
