Since 1998 we have spent a week at PineCliff every year. We have never had a negative experience and have always encountered helpful staff. Since it's an older campground some features could be upgraded. Bathrooms are old but usually clean. Showers are expensive. Hook-ups are confusing. And they really should be accepting credit cards by now. I think the people who have problems are the ones who don't understand that people come up there for quiet repose. They don't want to hear a lot of noise, music, barking dogs or whatever from other campers. That is RUDE!
Anyway, I was there in May and will return in September.
Ive been camping at pine cliff for over 10yrs now. I have always been a tent camper there and while there service is slow and rude for the most part it was an ok place to go. Ive learned how to deal with the old lady whom owns and runs reservations there....so I thought.
This past labor day weekend, I took my wife and son there. But this time we rented a camper. Thinking it would be nice to NOT have to use the community shower and toilets.
BIG MISTAKE. While having our own shower and crapper was nice. The camper was straight out of 1950 and looked like it hadnt been cleaned since.
When we went to pull out the beds, we found MILLIONS of mouse turds under the coushins! Once we opened up the silverware draw, we found mouse turds ALL OVER the silverware (we were going to use it anyhow, but still).
We also saw over 5 mouse in the trailer while in it.
During the middle of the night, they would come out and try to nibble on food, our bags, anything and everything! Its was totally gross!
I told the owner about this and asked for our money back, saying its not safe or healthy and she shouldnt even be allowed to rent them, and she told me!
"mouse are bad this year... go lay a mouse trap"
and she didnt offer us our money back at all! She acted like it was no big deal and that I was wrong to even be asking her for my money back.
Because of this, our stay was short and we ended up going to a cabin in Mammoth instead.
As I said, I have been going there for over 10yrs. And while I have always been a tent camper before this experiance, I have never once had a mouse in my tent, in my food, or anything like that.
While tent camping, you can leave food in your cooler without a worry. In the campers they rent, the mouse will attack ANYTHING!
Stay away from there if your looking to rent a cabin or camper. They dont clean them and they dont care about you or your health at all.
Tent camping is ok, but your still going to deal with the rudest owner bitch ever. And count on waiting upwards to an hour to check in.
Bottom line.... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I promise you!
PS: prior to this, I always stuck up for Pine Cliff. After this last experiance, I will never go back!
We just came back from there and had a great time. I don't know why people say that the staff is not friendly, they are friendly. We had trouble putting our rig in the slot (#10) and they sent up two of the staff (Bob and Steve) and they helped me to get my trailer in. I have always had no problem with anybody there. The only problem I had was that I had problems catching a fish in June Lake...try Saddlebag Lake for fishing.
we stayed eight days. the spaces are a bit cramped, but the park is very nice. rates are inexpensive. they have a swimming beach on june lake. the store could be better stocked. lots of lakes nearby, close enough for a day trip to yosemite. best rv park we found in the area. we will visit again!
We just arrived back from Pine Cliff and have never been so humiliated in all my life. My family of 15 went there for our first time and thought the place was beautiful until the witchy owner showed up while we ate dinner and listened to the radio. She demanded us to shut our radio off and our fire was too high. (it was barely over the rim) I mentioned my brother in law was ill in his tent and she had her headlights on him and she got in my face and threatened to throw us out! In front of my family!! I was nice in asking, especially in front of my children and she was an inch from my face telling me off. If it would have been daylight I would of packed them all up. My mother in law was in shocked and I sat there humilited and speech less! DO NOT GO!
When we got to the resort we found out that the staff split up our 3 RV Spots and put 2 of them far away from the other. And every time that we went to the general store, the clerk would try to short change us or charge us more than the item cost with the excuse "There rasing our prices every day." The coin opperated showers also suck. They charge a dollar and say it gets you 5 minutes but they rarley give you that long. Every thing else was great though.
We recently stayed in the campground (in a tent) for 4th of July weekend. The campsites I would recommend are in the "canyon" (we stayed at #68) as they are off the beaten path and nice. I did not encounter any of the "bad manners" mentioned from other reviewers - check-in was easy. Bathrooms were okay by camping standards. My only complaint would be that we were expected to groom our own campsite after it had rained earlier that week and deposited lots of pinecones and clumps of dirt on the site where one would logically put a tent - "we can lend you a rake". Otherwise, the kids loved it!
The owners of Pine Cliff Resort are not at all friendly. Check all other forums to confirm this. The resort is a great vacation spot, but make sure you understand and confirmed all reservation info before starting your vacation. You will get no sympathy from the owners when you check in. They don't care for your needs. Their customer service scores a big fat zero.
