Over hyped overpriced would not stay again
By Janeice, 08/09/09
We stayed in our 40 ft motorhome on what they call a riverside site. It was a cliff with little access ( unless a good climber) to the river. Apparently they were plans to build a stairway or walk way down but the lumber lay near our site and kids were climbing down the rock cliff to the river. Not at all safe. Blind side back in. For a 40 footer this site was not long enough nor were others. Very over priced for what you actually had. Most sites are narrow. They have only a few sites that are wide enough and some are so narrow that it was not possible for our friends with a much smaller 5th wheel and very experienced to get their rig into a spot and had to move to a left over site. Mostly large gravel or rocks, no grass. Not a good place for dogs. They seem to be concentrating on selling time share type sites and little to the interior layout. Nice pool area, laundry & store. Cell phone service for most carriers does not work. They have wi-fi but it did not work well either. You can see a bit of the river if you are lucky enough but I would not call it a riverside location. Mountain side yes!

Great Place, scary salesman
By Rachel Slick, 08/16/08
The place is wonderful, great location, cute little cabins,a great place to eat breakfast, very friendly staff in the cafe , beautiful animas river flowing through. The only thing we didn't like was upon check in, we were POUNCED on by a very aggresive salesman. He made plans for us to attend a sales pitch(for private membership) the next day and even told us they would be coming to get us (no chance to escape!) He did not ask us if were were interested, which we were not. He told us we would receive free tickets to a chuckwagon show, which sounded like the absolute LASt thing we wanted to do. we went there for a quiet retreat, and this kind of aggresive sales tactic was very unwelcome. Since it is being turned into a private members only place, we won't be back.

Beautiful spot
By Barbara, 07/26/08
The place was great. Right on the Animas River which was flowing great. No fishing there though. Fishing close by. The park is going through a lot of renovation and the people are great and really helpful about telling you things to do in the area. They are keeping the park clean and the new spaces are good size. I would recommend it to everyone.
