Long Term Stay
By Supernova900, 8/17/11
I have lived here a year, and the staff here is very easy going. If you are looking for a place to camp, get off the road for a few days and see Petersburg, or race @ Virgina Motor Speedway right next door, then look no futher, very nice pool and lake...they have a lil store and sell prophane too for your camper, rent cabins, I recommend them, they go out of their way to try to make your stay comfortable. Pets welcome on a stake or leash. Your responsable for your pet. Laundramat on premises.

Wonderful Campground, except...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/30/11
The campground itself was extremely well maintained, with the bathhouse being almost spotless and the pool looking very clean. It could be a little crowded during major events at the race track but luckily we weren't there during that time. Wifi is listed as an availability at the campground but is actually only available for those who live towards the front of the campground near the main office and is not available to those who live further towards the back of the campground, you might be able to pick up 1 or 2 bars but it's so unstable that it isn't even worthy trying. I might go back but they really need to improve their wifi capabilities first.

don't trust them
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/11
We camped there for a weekend and it was o k. We ( two other campers and myself) made reservation for the weekend of the HOG rally, This was two month ago because they would be full. We called to check five days before and found out they had rented the sites we reserved. They said that they could "fit us in" but could not keep us together or if we would have all hookups. There are no other campgrounds nearby. All 3 of us had to cancelled our trip!

a great experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/10
The new owners of this campground have made vast improvements. New 50amp electric at al the full hook up sites. All the trees throughout the park have been trimmed and lighting has been added throughout the park. They have a wonderful new salt water pool that has chaise lounge chairs around it. Golf carts are allowed which was nice. Owners were very helpful with directions and were very friendly.

Moderate at best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/10/10
This campground is like going to a cheap motel that has you wondering if you should have brought your own sheets. There is a pool here but it is under construction, so not in use at this time. The lots are very rustic, no concrete slabs, and some with big slopes. And although most spots have water and electric, there is only sewer in the upper half of the campground which is packed with long-term residents some who seem a bit sketchy. Wi-fi is available which is nice, and the bottom half of the campground has sites which are set away from the long-termers and offer shade by old growth trees. At night up until about 10pm you can hear the racetrack cars. Not the best, but endurable if your not trying to sleep before that. Shower rooms and bathroom stalls are a bit dilapitated but has many toilet and shower stalls available. We paid $25 a night for water and electric. It's do-able here but we may be trying the Pocahantas State Park next time. They do not have long-term residents there and is better maintained.Picnic tables are present at campsites here but are very old and warped. All the electrical outlet locations force you to face thedoor of your trailer towards the long-term residents and away from the lake. Not the most ideal in my opinion. Lake water seems to be lower than it should be and full of lily-pads. On a side note we did not notice any domestic type disturbances and people left you alone. It's quiet here other than the race track at night. We did not have to worry about theft or anything. This place has potential if they would just clean it up, update the sites and move the long termers vertically , up and down the back rather than being the first thing you see when you get here. No childrens facilities or play areas present.

Overcharged for race weekend. Low power at sites, even when only about 20 rv's in campground. Showers were filthy, didn't look as if they had been cleaned in months.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/1/06
Last there about 6 years ago, at that time it was marginally satisfactory. this time (October for the NHRA race), the campground was totally unsatisfactory. Shower building was the dirtiest I have ever seen, (been camping for 13 years). Both urinals in the shower building didn't work, no toilet paper (even on the first day). commodes were to filthy to use, and the showers had an actual lalyer of dirt, hair etc laying in the bottom of each one. Will NEVER go back.
