Happy Holiday Rv Village, Cherokee

We are new at RV parks, having just purchased a motorhome. Cherokee is one of our most favorite places to go. We have been going for years for the fishing, natural beauty, casino, central location (Pigeon Forge, Biltmore (Ashville), Gatlinburg, Nantahala etc.). We found this RV park via internet and chose it due to its high ratings and having the most amenities and close to all the activities. We were even more pleased when we arrived. The customer service could not be better, the managers of the park are just so kind. They just started a shuttle service to take you where you need to go, wow! We highly recommend this RV park to everyone. It also has a lot of activities planned which makes for a fun atmosphere. The Socco creek is beautiful and there are a lot of sites to choose from depending on your needs. Oh and yes the cable is not super clear and the internet is lost from time to time and our AT & T phones don't work. However there were some people using their phones so some services must work. This is not a complaint, however because after all this is deep into the mountains, what do you expect. No mountainous location is perfect but they provide what is the most important, won't stay anywhere else when in Cherokee.

First of all, we made reservations months in advance for a wk stay, we wanted full hookup which includes CABLE, sewer, water and electricity. They did not tell us that the cable had been cut and unless you had a dish you were not going to get tv reception, other than a pathetic little paper sign that said "we do not guarantee cable". Why not tell us they had no cable when we set the reservations. Then they put us in a spot that we could hardly park our truck and open the awning and we told them we had a 35ft camper. Next they put my parents in a spot next to us that the sewer and cable in the next spot was right at their dining table at the edge of their awning. Then had the nerve to start to park a pitiful guy in a conversion van on top of the hookup next to them almost backing into their table. That spot should be taken out. Again we had told them how large both campers were and it was not like there were not any other spots, the place was practically empty. Only after my mother made a scene about them trying to park the van on top of them, the guy moved them to somewhere else. The creek was not stocked as we were told it would be. The best thing that could have happened as well is they could have removed some of those filthy ducks and geese. All they do is poop everywhere. You can't take a nice walk or walk your pet without stepping in poop piles bigger than our dogs put out. We have come there several times a year for several years and now we will be finding another place to go. I can appreciate that the Indians own the campground, but I don't want to see "free walkers" using the campground as a walking track. You don't feel safe sitting out or leaving your things out because you don't know if these people are owners/family or just someone scouting out what they can steal. No weekend entertainment, the game room was half empty and uninviting. WHAT A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT FROM HOW THE PREVIOUS OWNER RAN THE CAMPGROUND. OUR FAMILIES WILL NOT BE BACK AND WE WILL WARN OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. To be charged full price and not get what you paid for with no warning is a joke and you will not be doing yourself any favors if you start charging $5 extra per person when you have more than just the parents. We have been to many campgrounds and have never had to pay extra to bring our child. What a shame to take a great campground and screw it up just because you have a couple money hungry indians who could not agree.

The setting is beautiful, the staff is outstanding and the rates are better than any in the area for the amenities provided. They are still working on the cable. That was really no issue for us since we always travel with our satelite dish. The park is under new ownership & new management. I will definitely come back. We have been several times. We have tent camped on the primitive sites and took the camper for full service. No matter how we camped my entire family always had a blast and we look forward to going back again. It is clean and the staff is friendly. The lake is stocked a couple times a year, but you can always get a permit and fish the surrounding streams--My husband caught several trout right beside our camp.

We have been going to Happy Holiday since the middle 80"s and really do love there. I like it because they have a secured gate at all times. The Bathrooms are really clean and they are cleaned everyday and checked 3 times a day!! I live in a campground full time and I know how to appreciate a wonderful place. Will keep coming to Happy Holiday. The staff was very helpful and friendly to us.

I love the setting, the creek, most of the sites. I was not pleased with the rates, and add on's for cable, and patio. Very good Bluegrass festivals twice a year.

Where to start? Well the lies on their web site and brochure stating paddle boats, there's 1 and it's flooded. They state a stocked trout pond free for campers. It's a small pond with NO trout only tiny bluegill. Wi-Fi is not free it's $7.95 a day. The pics on the web or in the brochure are very old and deceiving!!! It's muddy. There's no confirmation of reservations, they messed ours up by 1 day and didn't care and refused to let us stay even though we had paid for a deposit. Their customer service doesn't exist. Very poor!!! We talked to several people who had their reservations messed up by the staff and was not fixed and the staff din't care. They know you'll stay because you drove all that way. Bring an extra long cable line, sewer hose and power ext because the connections are very oddly placed here. The geese in the pond walk all over and poop eveywhere. NASTY everywhere. The staff doesn't care. In fairness the bathrooms were clean and it's a great location. If you have a larger camper or motor home you need to check the site they give you because they were sticking large campers in small sites and the fronts were hanging out in the road. I can't say enough about the poor customer service and the total unprofessionalism the place has. You expect now adays to have a conformation sent email or snail mail but NO. You book something, pay your deposit and then get there and it's not right and you have no recourse. There were several there at the same time with that problem.

We love and look forward to going to Happy Holiday every memorial day weekend!! My 3 kids and I have been going there since 2001. We really enjoy the Elvis and karaoke show! It's just a great place to go and enjoy a stress free, quiet weekend away from the rat race.

We like Happy Holiday camp ground we try to go there ever chance we get most of the time we go there twice a year.very Happy with it. (Hambone)and Faimly.
