This place is a dump...
By mi m, 08/22/09
I did not like anything about this place. It's a complete and total dump! The woman that checked us in wasn't very nice, even the office looked old and run down. You can tell they haven't done much to this park at all. The spots are totally small and so close together, that's all it is a little grassy area and it was one of the most expensive rv parks we have ever stayed at ( well actually it was so nasty we didn't even stay). It looks like a trailer park parking lot. My parents went with us their spot was tiny they couldn't even put their awning up. Our spot wasn't designed for a 5th wheel and even with 2 extensions our water wouldn't be able to work. It was designed for a bus. All they want is to herd people in and take their money! We were so stupid to go ahead and pay without checking the sites out first. I guess everything is a learning experience. Even when we wanted to leave, of course we tried to get our money back, (because we were there a total of 5 minutes) they sat there and ARGUED with us for 10 minutes, we knew it was a lost cause. Our mistake, but even though we lost out on some money it was worth going and finding a gem in Corpus Christie...Colonia Del Rey Rv Park, this park is really nice. I would recommend this park to anyone.

Broken committments- ruined vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/09
I made reservations over one month in advance for a premium site, talking to the office several times. We were assured that we could reserve a site on the front row - row B. I paid a $150.00 deposit. Based on prior excellent reviews, I greatly anticipated a week on the beach, a long overdue vacation. We received a telephone call the day before we left, asking if it was ok to move us to a different site on row H. We were assured that the site was also on the front row and equal to the site that was reversed for us. We had no reason to suspect that this was not the case. We arrived at the park about 3:30pm after a 7 hour road trip. We were given a site in the middle of the park. When I objected, saying we had reserved a premium site and were promised a site on row H, - I was told our trailer was too big for row H. This was true, the sites on row H were too small. When I asked about the possibility of moving later, I was told they would look into it. Disappointed, my husband and I agreed to make the best of it and pulled over to the assigned site in the middle of the park. The problem with the new assigned site was that we could not slide out beds. The site was located between two large trailers who were both pulled out to the maximum, leaving no room. Back at the office, we got no help. We asked to move to another site that was open on the same row and were told that it was reserved for a trailer coming in later. Incensed about the way we were being treated, we decided to leave. We were told that we forfeit our $150.00 deposit. Very frustrated and angry, we returned to our trailer and the owner came and talked to my husband. The owner agreed to refund our deposit if we would leave immediately. The result was that we had nowhere to stay and finally ended up in Galveston about 1:30in the morning. BEWARE. I think the management must generally be nice, but they decided right off that they didn’t like us, and did not honor their own commitment. Once we arrived, they never tried to accommodate our trailer, despite having open sites that would have worked. A vacation, planned well in advance, was ruined.

Not a good experience at all!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/09
I expected to pay extra for parking of my two motorcycles, but when we decided not to bring them, I was told I would be charged anyway. They said they would make my pickup that I pulled the rv with and my golfcart "extras" even if they are parked on your site, you have to pay extra. I was told when I reserved the site a few months back that the only extras I had to pay was for the motorcycles. Next I had to get up all night long to move my truck for others to pass. I have a 16 ft camper and barely had enough room for it and my vehicle on my site. The people next to me had 4 autos and one atv that took up all of the extra spaces. wonder what I would have done if I showed up in a 30 ft rv? I guess the road would just have been blocked. The shower(it advertises "showers" but that means 1 for men, 1 for women)had about a 1 hour wait ,when it was working, and barely enough pressure to get you wet.NO SHADE AT ALL!!! make sure you take an umbrella and bottled water while waiting to shower, you might be standing in the sun for a while. Kids in the condos next door shooting water balloons into the campers, dogs crapping in your rv spot(even after I was told mine had to be on a leash and I had to clean up after it). Just all around bad service. I would not reccommend this camp to anyone. Do not park on one blade of grass for fear of listening to owners complain, even though the guest complaints do not seem to matter. Your best bet is to drive a bit farther and stay somewhere that you actually get what you pay for. This one is close to the beach alright, but all that means is ALL of the beach goers come through the rv park and use the sand showers and drive like idiots on the way out. I hope all of the others that were complaining get on here and leave the same type of reviews.

I can't wait to go back!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/06
The park is a peaceful serene place with an almost buolic quality about it, I have been retired for 15 years, and for each of those years I have been coming to On The Beach RV Park, the close proximity to the beach and gulf is less than 100 meters...you can literally hear the ocean spray at night! The service was helpful, the prices reasonable, the cleanliness impeccable, I love On The Beach RV Park!
