Paradise Lost!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/09
We came here until 2005 or 2006, whenever the county took over and established the no pet rule. We now go on down Venice each January..last year we rode up to to check things out...there were only 5 sites filled when before there used to be a waiting list...We were told that the pet restrictions had not hurt their business. Our 13 year old cat never leaves the RV, in fact, her feet never touch the ground..but we were not welcome here anymore...........We found everything about this park to be exceptional.. except the no pet rule .too bad we are not allowed to enjoy it anymore......

would love to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/08
Liked the people, sunsets, fishing, friendships, food, potlucks, shelling beautiful laid back atmosphere, old Florida Sites are full hookups and all are in close proximity to the Gulf Shore. hearing the conch shells at Sunset. Good food just across the street. Boat rentals, bike rentals also across the street. Bluegrass music under the picnic shelter twice a year.

MIKE, DEBBIE & FAMILY FROM THE UK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/07
We have been coming to Gulf Beach Campground for numerous years now and it is our favourite place to visit. We have made lots of friends here and it makes it a pleasure to come back and see everyone. It is a pity that the top sites have been lost and the beach is bigger but we are coming back this year (2007) to have a look and hope that it hasn't lost its atmosphere. We will add to this when we return!!!!

Such a shame to limit stay to 14 days!
By Cheryl, 1/14/07
This place is paradise! Old Florida at its best! We've never enjoyed camping at any place better than Gulf Beach Campground. The County has made a mess of it, so we won't be coming back. Fourteen days isn't long enough for us. We always wanted to stay for 2 months, but we were happy to enjoy one month these past 5 winters. So many wonderful friendships were formed. It's such a shame to see the park with all those empty spots -knowing that it wouldn't have to be like this if they'd just change the ruling & get rid of the 14 day maximum stay! We'll just keep our memories in our hearts!

I miss this so much
By Krys, 11/30/06
I lived here from June until August for nearly 8 years of my life. There were regulars then, as I am sure there are now. Everything was always clean with good restaurants nearby. The beach is my heart and soul to this day and I am an Ohio girl. Sitting on your site and watching the sunrise while eating breakfast, the shark tanks, nothing bad to say about this little spot of heaven. We never had any problems with anyone nor any problems from the public section right next door. Florida at it's best - a little piece of Paradise......

Taken a good thing and ....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/06
This is a wonderful spot on the beach. But what really made it extra special was the "regulars," the people that stayed here for extended periods year after year. Many of the families that have been coming to spend time here have been coming for years, even decades. The summer or winter cook-outs and get-togethers were a great time for anyone to join in with a dish to pass. We have have had Derby parties, Hurricane parties and let's just grill something parties. Unfortunately much of this has come to an end now that the county has bought it. There is a limit of 14 day stay. How sad to have to leave a totally empty park (3 campers and 2 tents) because 14 days are up. But I guess that is what the county wants. I'm sure many people will continue to enjoy the park from time to time, but for a great many it is the end of an era. For me it is just so sad to see what has happened.

Paradise Untethered
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/06
This is old Florida, with shade on the beach. Family asmosphere. Sand , Sun and Clear beautiful water. Fishing and crabbing from shore. Cook your fresh catch at your campsite. Boat launch in park next door. Fish cleaning table with water on the lagoon. wonderful kayaking and snorkeling. Picnic tables at each site. Full hookups. Marina across the street. Groceries only two miles. Restaurant across the street. Bicycle paths along roadway. Rental boats cross the street. Shelling and looking for sharksteeth and sea glass a great pastime. Not a crowded beach. Directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Hurry as it may close by September 5th , 2006
