Americana Rv Park, Mission

Wife and I have been going to Americana for three years and will go back again. Full timers located there accepted us as one of their own and we have had a ball each time. Be sure to look up "Hurk" and have him make something for you. The man can do anything with a saw! Jim and Martie

We liked the large size lots, The activities were great, But the full time residents don't want us partimers there and they let us know by their actions. And the owner lets them get away with it. Was there for a month, but will not go back

As Western Canadians we love to be on our own and discover small botique parks each year in Texas. This year for the first time we are changing our plan and returning to a park we really enjoyed, Americana in Mission. We love the clean amenities, oversized lots, friendly neighbors, birding, and the organized entertaining activities. We were pleased to learn there was a management change. The previous managers required you to side with them on many silly issues or your were encouraged to "get out". The owner, who is not there much, is a hoot when he makes his visits.

There is new management in the park, and the work campers are all gone. If you like the park, give it a try again. Hopefully things will be a lot better.

This seems to be a very pretty little park, lots of space and trees. My wife and I stayed there for about a week. Some of the staff was very friendly and helpful,but it soon became very apparent that the owner doesn't care about part time people, he caters more to the people that stay there year round.and it is very apparent that they don't want to see anything of the likes of us. they were very rude in the laundramat on the park grounds, the pool and hot tub,etc.We love the valley in general, but we will look around for a more user friendly place.I also feel there is some kind of problem going on inside the park with this kind of attitude from the full time residents.It needs to beaddressed by the owner, or he will start losing customers.

I agree with the other reviews about the cliques. Did not participate, and consequently felt I did not belong! Management was involved personally with the clique group, which I felt was unprofessional. It seemed it was us against them on several occasions. Many times we were completely ignored and shunned. Seemed the activities were very slim or non existent, except for the regularly monthly scheduled events. The lots are very nice - large and some shaded. Clubhouse airconditioner was not turned on in the hot weather, which seemed to discourage people from coming in - either to play games, use the computer, etc.

I enjoyd the park very much. They have a lot of activitys for a small park. The lots are large and are shaded. The electric was upgraded this year. Hope to go there fo years to come.

I like the large RV lots. We have looked at numerous parks and these are the best lots we have seen. There are a lot of trees, though management is slowly cutting them down. They have a nice, heated pool. Great park for birding and butterfly watching. I agree with a lot of the stuff listed in the other reviews, but not all.

Maintenance of this park has gone down hill rapidly in the last four years since we first came here. The management team can be very friendly one minute and very nasty the next. You never know what to expect. One will tell you one thing, the other will say something oposite of what you had been told. They also need to follow their own rules for the park. The park rules appear to be for those that are NOT in their clickish circle, and the clickish circle can do whatever they want. The security gate they put up this year is a lark. It is mainly an inconvience for those staying there as there is no lock on the gate, but you have to get out and open it to enter or to leave, and close it behing you. There is no set hour that the gate is closed or opened. As for the other reviewer stating they have to many free workcampers for this park, they probably do, but that is because most of them don't do much work. Activities are minimal, most are run by other RVers here, though they do have an Activities Director. This park has low water pressure, strong sewer smells at times, low electric power at times, and many bugs, ants and ROACHES every where, even in the kitchen cabinets. I was planning on starying here for 4 months but the conditions were so bad that I left in a week.

At one time this was a lovely friendly park with the owners on sight,the owners retired , the new owner removed all of the security lighting,removed all of the workshop tools, tore down the workshop. No books or magazines were allowed in the rec hall, now called a club house.Most of the yearly renters that came to Americana have moved on to other parks because of the actions of the park management, absolutly no class,Their attitude is "If you don't like it here, go somewhere else ".Before the park was sold , every site was full with a waiting list.There was more than no see ums, roaches in the restrooms and laundry, fire ants everywhere. Now a most unfriendly park, not really operated by the managers but by a clique of newcomers.
