Valley View Motel, Port Townsend

We had the pleasure of staying at the Valley View for our anniversary and while in the area to visit friends and the Sequim Lavender Festival. The rates were really reasonable. We enjoyed the view from the bench on the porch while having a glass of wine in the evening. The furnishings were clean and comfortable. We loved that the kitchenette had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The owners were very accommodating and friendly . Be sure to visit the Ajax Cafe and Fat Smitty's while you are in the area!

We paid for 2 nights using our debit card, which was $69.00 per night plus tax. The manager said he was having trouble learning how to use the machine, but not to worry no charges had gone through to our bank, so would we mind going to an ATM and getting cash to pay for the room. We said sure and left to go to an ATM machine 10 miles away, but while we were gone we thought we better call our bank and make sure that none of the charges had gone through. Sure enought there were charges for $262.12 from the Valley View Motel. We went back to the motel and said we would pay the cash but want him to call our bank and have them reverse the charges out of our account. Valley View Motel manager said you don't have to worry the charges were not taken out of your account, that is when I told him we had called the bank ourselves and indeed the charges had gone through. He then agreed to call the bank and told them to cancel the charges and we then paid him in cash. What a mistake we should have taken our money and run! What a way to spend our 10th anniversary. Valley View Motel web page looks like a wonderful relaxing, clean, homey place, but it is just the opposite. Don't waste your money or sleep. It was dirty. 3 short curly hairs in the bathroom sink. The stove didn't work well so it was chilly at night. And only lukewarm water for the shower. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
