Driftwood Motel, St Ignace

Stopped into the Bar & Grill to grab something to eat on our way through town. We were ignored, while the bartender was socalizing, prior to getting our drink order taken. Took forever for him to take our food order, so went into the dining room, informed the front desk of our situation, and that we would be coming in there for service. They were just about empty and indicated that this wouldn't be a problem. We sat down in the dining room, ignored for 20 minutes, prior to getting up to leave, and not even being looked at by the front desk employee. We will never darken their doorstep again and will provide such insight to others. It would have been different and reasonable, if they were busy or considerate. The one word to describe all employees is indifference.

One member of our party was ill and the staff was very helpful with our requests to make him comfortable. The price was very reasonable and the motel was quiet and clean. My only complaints were that our newly remodeled room lacked towel bars and hooks so towels, washcloths and clothes all had to be tossed on counters or beds. We also specifically asked about WIFI, so one person could work, but found the signal to be very weak and slow even though we were right near the office.

For what appears to be an independent motel, this is the best place to stay. However, not every customer is treated equally - if you're a longtime customer, expect the royal treatment, anyone else they could care less about.

We stay here every time we go over the bridge, I love this place. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the prices are very fair. We stay in the annex behind the restaurant away from the street traffic. Their restaurant can't be beat. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. Best of all the people are wonderful and will help in any way they can.

Enjoyed our stay having the bar and restaurant right there was a plus rooms were decent price was great going back next year.....

The Driftwood Motel is a very cute place. It is nothing fancy, but the rooms were very clean and cute. The restaurant attached to the motel has good food at good prices. The people were very friendly. If you looking for a clean motel at a decent price, this is the place for you. If your looking for fancy, this isn't it. I very much enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay there again on my way through. Rooms were kind of small.

If you use debit card for reservations, after they run the card twice, once for authorization, once for verification of amount, funds will disappear from your account. When you check in, they have no way of verifying the money is in their account and you will pay for your stay, deposit is not deducted. If yoiu complain a lot to the owner, she will reluctantly check with her bank and after finding your money in her account, will reserve the transaction. Poor business practice.

While doing geneolagy on my family I stayed at the Driftwood motel many times years ago and was always given very good service.The rooms were always clean and well kept.Even once when it was snowing bad and the bridge was closed and at the last second I was given a room for the night. There wasn't really anything I didn't like cause everything was close to being perfect. The Whitefish in the diner was so good that whenever I stayed there I made sure to order their Whitefish. My boyfriend and I ate their breakfast and it was good too. The 2nd week of Oct we're going to the U.P. and will be staying at the Driftwood.I know like always we will enjoy ourselves.

The rooms are nice and clean. You cant beat the price. The tv's are a lil small but it still worked great. Will be straying there again for sure. The staff are very friendly and they clean the room everyday.

Great locattion. Good price. Nice staff. Smallish but clean and well maintained.
