Ace Motel, Belle Fourche

Stayed here for a week and enjoyed it very much, the room was clean and perfect for what we needed it for. Had no issue with the AC, our room was cool all the time. The owner was helpful on what to do, and see in the area. Fresh coffee every morming and and it was nice to give my hard erned money to a local owner, rather than some motel chain. I would gladly stay here again, our host was great, and a pleasure to talk to. She truly cares about her guest, and to me, that goes a long way.

The only thing I liked about the Motel was the fluffy clean towels. The room was dark and dingy. One lamp sitting by the bed couldn't be plugged in because there wasn't any place to plug it in so you could read in bed. Room had a bad smell to it. Owner said our room had AC, but it never came on while we stayed there. The owner camplained about how she wasn't making any money and she should just close the doors. I wanted to say then why don't you instead of complaing to your guests. Lucky me I will never have to stay at the ACE again.

After crisscrossing the US on my bike, staying here is like coming home. Clean smelling sheets, large fluffy towels, quiet, and very affordable. I recommend to all my friends and fellow travelers to stay at the Ace. I have stayed here on several different occations over the past 10 years.

I stayed at the Ace Motel for a week, not the worst motel I've stayed at but I wouldn't visit again. CONS The room was clean yet VERY SMALL. The mini-fridge had a large advertisement for some qauck nutritional drink taped to it, with a sign below it saying "enquire in office! ask for sample!" I don't think its too much to ask for a motel room not adourned with ads for gimmicky pyramid scheme health products. The wireless internet would routinely stop working for a minute or two at a time. There never seemed to be enough hot water for a shower. The manager was unwilling to let me check out two hours late (noon) on my last day AFTER PAYING FOR A WEEK. I know, rules are rules, but for a struggling mom n' pop motel I'd expect a little better service. The heat was provided by a plug-in mini space heater. Can anyone say fire hazzard?!?! Obviously it wasn't an issue because my stay was in winter, but I don't believe the room had air conditioning. PROS The TV was a midsized flat screen that had amazing picture quality. It is located within walking distance from lots of bars, restruants, convenience stores and grocery stores. The town of Belle Fourche is a beautiful small town with friendly people. The manager was very understanding about the room being a bit messy. In conclusion I wouldnt reccomend this motel. There are better weekly rates in nicer motels in nearby Spearfish.

The rooms are teeny tiny and smell of smoke. The owner is ok but must have been having a bad day when we stayed....not overly friendly. If I recommended this place to any of my friends they would never trust my judgment again. Quiet neighborhood but way too quiet for me.

Stayed three nights at the Ace Motel (Aug 14-16) while attending the Center of the Nation flag-raising in Belle Fourche. This is a great place -- the best in Belle! It's clean, friendly, great people, real 50s style and great quality and value! Vicki R., the owner/manager, was welcoming, had good recommendations on where to go and where to eat, and happily shared the history of her motel and the area. It's located just a short walk to town across a bridge that gives a wonderful view of the Belle Fourche river. The Ace is biker and driver (as in car) friendly -- it's just all around friendly! I highly recommend the Ace Motel for people who want to get in touch with local color and for people who are tired of the typical motel chains and want something different and good value.
