Waited for 4 weeks for a refund!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/11
We had reservations for July 4th weekend and provided a $650 deposit in early April. Found out on May 22 we needed to cancel our reservations and made a phone call and sent an email to confirm our conversation. Followed up several times and can't remember how many times we were told the "check's in the mail". Finally received it 4 weeks later, served with a side of attitude. NOT IMPRESSED!

A for Cleanliness - HOT TUBS OUT OF ORDER
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/08
We stayed at Baker. The cottage was very cute and comfortable for 2 people and it was VERY clean. I agree with the other reviewer in that the ads mislead you to think you will be on a quiet lake. For such a small lake there are many motor boats and jet skiers and yes, you are somewhat close to the road across from you But we did have a lot of fun sitting out on our dock everynight. Be sure to bring soap with you, as there is none in the bathrooms. The thing that I was most disappointed about is that the hot tubs were all out of order. There was a sign saying that they had been closed in 2006!! We paid a little extra to come here thinking that there would be hot tubs, so you can imagine how disappointed I was to see that they have been shut down for 2 years. My husband thought that it was probably just ours, but when we walked around past the other units, we saw that they all had the same sign up. I really think that they should take this off of their literature if the hot tubs haven't been up and running for 2 years. Overall, our stay was very nice and I would definately stay here again.

Harbor Hill Inn and Cottages, Saranac Lake, NY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/07
We stayed in the Algonquin cabin which is considered to be the "honeymoon" cabin. It was very rustic and romantic and we were very comfortable there with the exception of a few problems with the heater. We thoroughly enjoyed the stone fireplace and hot tub. However, their advertising is deceitful because it appears you will be on a lake in the woods. In actuallity, you are on a narrow section of the lake across from a major roadway. All of the trees are behind the inn. In the summer I think the traffic would be distracting. The drives are so steep a 4 wheel drive is mandatory for the winter. The drives were sanded but not very thoroughly and ours was blocked off so we had to walk up and down the steep hills every day. I was put off by the requirement that we replace any paper products we used. Even a Super 8 gives you toilet paper. And they wanted us to strip the bed and gather the towels and the end of our stay. We felt that at $265 a night they could do it themselves! The light bulbs were such a low wattage that you literally could not read at night. There was no soap in the shower so we had to buy our own. Bottom line is.......A for comfort and atmosphere; C for location and F for everything else.
