JUST LOVED IT! NEW PLACE TO STAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/15/11
We come here every year but this was our first stay here and we plan on coming back. Room #4 come with a complete kitchen and fireplace; the place was clean and cozy and the lake is perfect.

Avoid this Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/11
Stopping through there on a motorcycle trip, we stayed in what was touted as the cottage with the best view of the small lake. After checking in, we approached the cottage and found it's exterior to be in very poor condition, essentially neglected from any upkeep or investment. It was right next to 4 other cottages in various stages of disrepair. The one directly next to ours seemed to be sliding off the foundation. We decided to look inside our cottage and it appeared decent, although aged and needing updating. The bathroom was nasty with rust stains abound, a poorly laid, but apparently new vinyl floor, and chipping paint everywhere. I lifted the toilet seat to find several large spiders were residing there. There was barely a 1/4 roll of TP and no more to be found. I guess that was extra. There were only 2 thin pillows and we went to the office to request more. After a search of the closet behind the desk, we were given 2 rather smelly and stale pillows which we didn't use. There is no A/C, but 2 of the windows didn't have screens or were broken. Amazingly, there was what appeared to be a fairly recent installation of a corner gas fireplace which was the most valuable thing in this place. We received all these amenities and services for a bargain price of $147.00 per night. We promptly left the next morning. When we asked about walking-distance resturaunts, the owner steered us away from Tail 'O the Pup barbeque up the road. After assessing the accomodations, we figured the owner may not be the best to recommend anything. We tried the resturaunt and it was terrific. If you have a chance to stay at this dump, pass on it. Signed, Fooled Once Travelers

Great mountain get away. Would definitely return.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/09
Recently stayed here on a weekend getaway to the Adirondacks to check out the foliage and enjoy nature. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and basically gave us a full weather report so we knew what to expect and made sure to offer us firewood. The location was great just a couple miles away from Lake Placid. We rented one of the log cabins. It was very peaceful and offered us everything we expected.Of course its going to be a little dusty its a mountain log cabin. The linens were warm but i always bring extra blankets and pillows no matter where i stay. The bathroom was clean, the water was hot and it really gives that country feel. The view was wonderful and it offers some really great photo opportunities. If you are prissy, avoid staying here, Then again you probably shouldn't visit the mountains if you are like that anyway. If you love the outdoors, and dont mind being surrounded by nature it is a great choice. Would definitely stay here again. THANKS for a great weekend:)

DISGUSTING!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/08
The cabin was disgusting! Dirty, cobwebs all over. The bed was uncomfortable and given only one pillow per person and they were paper thin and smelled like mildew! The bathroom was in need of a good painting. It was outdated, old dirty furniture throughout. Dusty furniture, a hole in the carpet, the carpet looked like it was about 40 years old and was the late time it was cleaned. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

will be going back
By denise, 2/23/08
the place is great i have been there twice and will go again it is what i was looking for i have stayed at the best and some of the worst place's. this is a place when you look at it you know what you are getting if your unhappy then maybe you should of been looking at a five star hotel. This place is perfect and what you would look for in the great out door's if i exspect better or want better there are hotel's in placid for that. I think the owner's offer a great package. no one bother's you and the view is great and i know being there gave me and my family a great time i even rented two cabin's one year for my family and my brother. i knew what i was getting. maybe some people don't know how to appritiate the great part of being out door's and these cabin's are better than some i have spent thousand of dollar's to rent in canada. thank you for the great time don't let some poor review let you down. Thank's for the fun and great time the coates and lawton's we will see you again and recommend it...

Needs a good cleaning!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/07
We stayed this weekend and were lucky to find something as it was a last minute trip and only $65/nigh. But really they don't seem to care about cleaning the cabins. They changed the sheets and gave us towels but that was it.

Wish I knew then what I know now!
By Patti, 10/3/07
The cabin we had looked like it was built in the 40's and last cleaned in the 50's. The only thing it had going for it was that it had cable TV. $120.00 for one night was pricey for something that hadn't been updated since it was originally built. Furniture was old and worn out and everything was in need of a good cleaning. The wiring on many of the light fixtures was frayed. Not a real comfy, cozy environment. I wouldn't even use the shower. Beds were not comfortable, although the linens were clean--but not any additional blankets available. Towels in our cabin were clean and sufficient for two people.

Find another place!!!!
By Lisa, 7/23/07
Everything in the cabin was dirty or so old it needed to be replaced. Even my husband could not sit on the sofa or chairs they were so dirty and uncomfortable. The metal stall with a peeling painted floor was just nasty. The towels were old and skimpy, each adult needed to use 2 towels to dry but only one towel per person was available. The plastic tablecloth had someone else's ketchup spill on it. The spiders had webs large enough to hide a small child. The one positive, the sheets were clean, but the mattresses belong in prison. I wish we had gone a bit further into Saranac Lake.

Loved your cabins
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/07
Rent a log cabin and swim, boat, fish, bbcue, new beds, cable tv and all completely afordable. Hospitality with attention to every detail provided by the owners who know the best places in the adirondacks, not some international, multi-corporate faceless entity.

Great Value, good people
By Kevin, 1/6/06
Had a great time this past weekend. For $100/night for a complete cabin with lots of peace and an excellent view you can't go wrong! $6 in wood per night was plenty to keep the fires going ;).
