Moody's Motel, Waldoboro

We live in Boston, and my father-in-law lives on an island off Camden, Maine, reachable only by ferry. When we know we won't make the last ferry (5 pm), we book a cabin at Moody's, which is only a half hour south of the ferry landing. We love staying in their cabins, which have comfortable beds and are always clean and neat. It feels very private and serene, and I love to sit on our little screened porch at nightfall. We also love the diner! Sometimes we have four-berry pie for breakfast because we love it so much. They also have really great bread pudding, and about a million other homemade desserts. We were there for lunch on Friday, and had delicious fish chowder and a wonderful roasted turkey club sandwich. The Moodys have been in place for 80 years, and their story is a great one. In their gift shop (in the parking lot), they sell a little book with many of their recipes (much to my chagrin, since now I might make one of those pies!) and a bunch of hilarious stories written by various members of the family about "growing up Moody". Moody family members (along with others) still run the gift shop and wait tables in the diner. I highly recommend Moody's - the cabins and the diner!
