Worst Inn ever on our trip to New England
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/08
We made a trip around the north of New England, in November. We knew that the season would be over by then, but in many other Inns, like in Cape Cod, Portsmouth, Portland, and Acadia we found nice Inns, which were still very hospitable and friendly. As we came to The Inn at Smith Cove, we were told from a really rude innkeeper woman, that we are the only guest and that there would be a small breakfast with tea, coffee and some pastry starting at 7 AM. We told the owner, that we wouldn’t get up before 9 AM the next morning, so that breakfast would be ok at this time. The following morning, we get down, from the smallest room, we have ever slept in. Why not giving us a bigger room for the same money is not understandable for us, but this is another point. So we came down that morning and there were really old pastry things, that tasted like old shoe sole, and the water that we should use for our tea was in a coffee machine pitcher, and was not as hot as needed for making a good tea. At least it would have been nice giving us access to the kitchen to use the water boiler. The orange juice was limited for only 2 glasses; oh excuse me for paper cups. The whole stay was not really what we expected of a recommended Inn from nearly every Guide. So we hope for everybody, that the innkeepers are nice in the summer otherwise they missed the point with running an Inn.
