You Gotta Remember It's Classic
By David, 02/19/09
The Latchis is a classic 1920's era art deco traveler's hotel. It is clean, convenient and provides a good room at a good price. As a bonus, it has an authentic, retro ambiance. If you want Hilton or Holiday Inn, you'll be disappointed. If you want character, you can't beat the Latchis.

We won't be back.
By M, 09/28/08
Upon arrival we did not find the staff manning the front area very friendly. There was also a misunderstanding on the room rate and we had to pay more than we were told over the phone. The parking was difficult even though it was free and the area for the continental breakfast was so small and unwelcoming that we didn't even eat there. The room was clean but the beds were uncomfortable. I was disappointed with our stay and we won't ever be back.

A wonderful, relaxing, artsy Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/07
The service was great and the staff were incredibly friendly. The view of the Connecticut River was gorgeous. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the Theater was a lovely addition. It is such a nice, vibrant hotel that I recommend completely!

Worst place I have ever stayed!
By Michael, 10/10/07
Besides the hotel being old and run down(all windows have cracks), it is way over priced for a dump. Rooms were filthy with bugs all over and old garbage from previous guest. The city itself looks like housing projects and appears to have stalled out in the 70's with all the hippies. There's grafitti all over the place. The streets are always noisy due to motorcycles going through the town. We would never recomend this place to anyone and will never go back to that town.

Loved it!
By Southerner, 09/12/07
We sprang for a deluxe double room. It was worth it! Lot's of room, clean and comfortable. Had a great view of the CT River (including the Riverside Cafe, where we had a fine dinner.) Free parking and the hotel's main street location made it perfect for strolling a while, then back to the room to dump stuff and relax, then back again. Such great shops and galleries. We showed up at 10am, but nice desk clerk was happy to check us in early.

Best place to be in this area
By mary, 03/30/06
The Latchis and its theater are art deco gems being restored through with local efforts. Many of the rooms look accross the connecticut river to the mountains in New Hampshire. Right on Main Street, three minutes from the Brattleboro Coop, home of organic grocery shopping, one of many places within a stones throw where you can get an affordable meal. In the middle of the music scene anytime, but in the Summer very close to the Marlboro Music festival. Most of the other motels and hotels in the area are in the middle of the strip malls that are on the perimeter of this small city. For the real feeling of Brattleboro, this is the place to be. Plus, the movies are just downstairs. First run...with some movie festivals (ie the Women's Movie festival in March) running parallel. Enjoy!
