I ran out of gas on my way from Astoria to Medford last year and pulled off here around midnight. Asked the creepy Indian guy in the office if there was an open gas station nearby and he made me move my car 20 feet from where I had parked it to wait for AAA to bring me fuel. He said the spot where I had parked my car was too close to the office, and it needed to be available in case someone wanted a room. I looked around the gravel parking lot, the 4-room motel and the completely-quiet and dark stretch of I-5 and thought, "you've got to be kidding..." The door to one of the rooms was open, its occupant standing outside in a wife beater cooking something on a hibachi. The manager proceeded to open the office door a crack and stare at me without a word until I drove away. Highly recommended if you're looking for a place to film a campy horror flick.
