I didnt even make it to the hotel
By Annonymous, 8/10/12
This is completely ridiculous, i booked me room for Aug 11 2012 at the end of July i was told by the women i spoke with that there is a 24 hr cancelation time if something would happen because i let her know that i had been having car problems. Well Last night my car went into the shop (Aug 9 2012) so it was obvious i wouldnt be making it for my trip on Aug 11 2012. I called the hotel on August 10 2012 at 9 am to cancel my room reservation, which is well over 30 hours of time before check in time the next business day. The lady that answered the phone said i could cancel but i would be charged if they didnt book the room, i said now wait a minute i was told that it was 24 hrs and i am giving you well over 24 hrs in advance. she said it is 48 hour cancelation check the website..i said i couldnt check the website because i was told by your employee that your website was never updated so dont bother looking (When i asked to look at pictures of the rooms) the manager said well our cancelation policy is 48 hours and you will be chanrged if the room does not get booked, i responded with O no i wont be because im going to cancel my credit card because you are not taking my money because of what i was TOLD BY YOUR EMPLOYEE. And i hung up on her (mind you she was extremely rude)I called my credit card company to shut down the card and dont you know the owner of the motel, already processed the room onto my card and i had been charged 77$ for a room that i did not even stay in. She shouldnt even be allowed to process the hold on my card until check in time the next day when i had my reservations for. Ending results i filed a claim with my credit card services as an unauthorized credit trasnaction and she is not going to get her 77$. Rude people, i would never ever suggest this motel to anyone!

Negative
By Pete, 10/21/11
Checking in was a real issue and not very pleasant. Ms. K at the front desk has an attitude. Assigned parking space is great for a small car but that's it. Very small and tight spaces. Rooms are very clean. Rather old establishment so don't look for much beyond a TV and small refrigerator. Bathroom is extremely small. Commode didn't flush properly and there's no heater in the bathroom. Ladies, beware: If you want heat in the bathroom, hope you're not shy. Either you leave the door open for all to see you in your birthday suit or suffer. (Of course you may be staying by yourself so it really wouldn't be an issue.) Not much of an option if you have a roommate or children. Room wall heater makes some noise but livable. Bring a cell phone unless you want to pay $10.00 for the establishment to turn your room phone on. From 10:00 pm - 8:30 am the office is closed so, good luck if you need to speak with someone at the front desk. Basically, there's a lot to be desired. Then again, you get what you pay for. With the number of hotels and motels in the area, guest should be made to feel welcomed and not made to feel like an imposition. Shop around.

Loved It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/11
NIce, small family owned motel. Clean. Staff was wonderful, esepecially Kelly in the office, was patient and answered all our questions on the phone and again when we arrived. Very pleasant and friendly. Would come back definitely and stay. Prices are good and Kelly was great. Motel was what you would expect of a motel, and the rooms were very clean.

Great Location! Nice Price!
By Beth B, 6/20/09
During a recent trip to Lake Erie/Presque Isle, PA, my husband and I along with our 16 yr old daughter and 12 yr old nephew, stayed at the Riviera for 5 days from June 15th to the 19th and we were very pleased! The room (18) had one queen bed and one double bed, air conditioner with remote, a desk with a chair and very large wall mirror behind it, a small nook area with a table and 2 chairs, a small dorm-sized fridge, a 4-cup coffee maker (with a complimentary pack of coffee, creamer, sugar and cups replenished each day - they even cleaned out the pot/machine daily!), a wall mounted tv with extended cable and remote, free wi-fi, very reasonable phone rates, a nightstand between the beds, a small closet, and a full bathroom. The owners were very nice as were the clerks. We had a small gift bag waiting when we arrived with samples of toothpaste, Aleve, granola bars, lotion and a few other items in it. There is a complimentary ice machine and coffee maker (if you want more coffee!) outside of the office along with 50 cent soda and gourmet coffee vending machines, They have a nice-sized heated outdoor swimming pool which is open daily until 9:30pm (no life-guard...swim at your own risk) during the summer season, a small picnice area around the side of the motel in a tiny yard where there is a barbecue grill, and electric hook-ups for fisherman's boats to recharge. And if you plan on going to Waldameer Amusement Park/Water World Water Park during your stay, the motel is almost directly across the street from the back entrance (Rainbow Gardens entry) to the park....as a matter of fact, you could walk across the street and up a small driveway and be at the park in about 10 minutes or less! AND the motel has an agreement with the park that if you buy your tickets through the motel office, you get $4.95 off of each ticket if you purchase the one for entry to both parks (making them only $18.00 each!). There is a small superette directly across the street that has pretty good wings and a few grocery/personal/toiletry items, and is only about a 5-10 minute drive away from several family restaurants/bars, banks, various shops, the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, bait shops, and the entrance to Presque Isle. Downtown Erie, the Bay Front, Erie Casino, the Maritime Museum, the Erie Zoo and other attractions are all within 15-35 minutes drive. The room was cleaned nicely each day. The reasons I gave it only 4 stars for service is one night housekeeping forgot to give us 2 rolls of TP and we almost ran out of the one roll we did have before the office opened in the AM - rooms: my pillow was a little on the lumpy, probably seen it's better day side (though they would have replaced it if I had asked....but hubby traded me...lol), and there wasn't enough space to put clothing seeing as there were no dressers and only a handful of hangers in the closet (I suggest bringing a few of your own if you are staying more than 2-3 days or have more than one person in the room) Sure, there are other more modern chain hotels in the area that offer similar prices and include a small continental breakfast daily, but all in all, our experience was very positive and this is a great place to stay - the owners and other guests were friendly and social, the location can't be beat, and there is a family-type atmosphere throughout (though some of the rooms DO have heart-shaped jacuzzis in them for a romantic get-a-way ;o). Tips: Great Italian place to eat: Valerio's. Great breakfast: Taki's.

FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/08
I and some friends travel up to Erie once a year for a day of charter fishing. You won't find a better value for your dollar. It is the place to stay whether you are sailing from Walnut Creek Access (try Don Clayton, Captain of Fish Connections)or Erie Marina. Anyway, easy access, plenty of parking a few blocks from Presque Isle entry and very good restaurants - Syd's or Joe Roots. Telephone wake up service. A winner for us for the fourth straight year.
