The Daniels Motel, La Salle

The water was cold, the wallpaper was coming off the walls, a tube of toothpaste that expired 3 years ago was found in the vanity, the bottom of the bed was so broken it was laying on the floor, my dog found food under the bed that had been there long enough to become grossly hard and furry, the door was pulling away from the frame so bad that daylight and drafts came through it, the screens were falling out of the windows where someone tried to tape them back into the frames but the tape dried out, the fridge didn't work, nor did the microwave, there were parts where the carpeting was coming up... It was the biggest dump I've ever stayed in. Drive to Peru or Ottawa for a hotel.

The wallpaper was "furry" like from the old days. It made everything dusty. There was chewed gum on the side of the fridge. The tv did have a lot of channles. The water was disgusting. You sure couldn't drink out of it. They came to clean the room everyday, even though they don't speak English. For a couple nights, not a bad motelI I guess...

We had a refrig. in the room, didn't work. There was no clock. There were no electrical plugs that were open. There was no coffee pot. There was no breakfast. There were no discounts such as AARP or AAA offered. The room was dirty. I found a man's wedding ring on the floor behind the TV. There was a stick of man's deodorant in the only drawer I looked into. I was afraid to look beyond.

I've stayed here a dozen times over the last several years. It's cheap and located nearby to a lot the area has to offer. After a long bike ride on the canal or a hike in the parks, it comes in handy. It's not the Ritz, but it's decent and affordable!

Looks can be deceiving. It looks clean and well kept, even the room gives that impression. Until you take a shower, and dry off with sand paper, (cleverly disguised as a towel, but I know it was sandpaper). The bed is made up with flat sheets rather than fitted, meaning that the sheet and mattress pad come lose and bunch up underneath you as you attempt to sleep. No worries tho, sleep doesn't come when you try to sleep on a mattress that's so worn that it's buckling and you sink into it. The pillows are so flat, it's hard to tell they're really pillows. Everyone woke up with sore backs and necks. We had to plunge the toilet three times during the night 'cause it kept getting clogged, (my very favorite thing to do at two in the morning!) we won't even talk about the roach we found in the bathroom. I would have mentioned all this to the desk clerk,if she had acknowledged my presence when I went into the office to turn in the key upon checking out. Guess she was too busy with her personal phone call. I saved twenty bucks by staying here rather than Super 8, twenty dollars not well saved. Spend the extra $20; your back, your neck and your blood pressure will thank you.

THE DANIELS MOTEL IS MORE LIKE DANIELS DUMP. THE MIKEROWAVE IS REALLY OLD-FASHIND, AND IT TAKES VERY LONG TO HEAT FOOD. AND THE BEDS HAVE MOUSE HOLES IN THEM. WHY DID WE GO THERE? I KNOW YOU ARE WONDERING! IT WAS BECAUSE OF MY DAD. ON OUR TRIP TO NORTH CARALINA, WE ALL WERE GETING VERY TIRED. SO MY DAD STOPED AT LA SALLE IL, AND AT DANIEL'S MOTEL. (I DID NOT WANT TO!) AND WE FOUND IT AT THE STATE ABOVE. AT THE TIME IT WAS BAD, BUT KNOW WE LAUGH VERY HARD AT THE MOTEL WE CALL DANIELS DUMP. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD STILL GO THERE. (JUST FOR THE LAUGHS!)
