My husband and I stayed there last year and other than being close to the beach, that's the only plus I can give this place. The room was on the bottom floor front. The bed was horrible, mattress was horrible, bed was very uncomfortable. The worst was the stench in the room. Mildew? Mold? Totally disgusting!!!!! If you are going to just sleep there then I say go for it, that way you won't be able to smell that disgusting smell. The price are very reasonable, and the owners are friendly. Internet connection was spotty.
My family has stayed here for the past few years and we will be back!! Making reservations today for another visit. Stugis and his family are wonderful hosts!! The rooms are nice and very close to the beach. Stugis does everything he can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I would recommend POINT 1 to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay while on vacation in R.I. The motels across the street on the ocean are $100.00 + more per night, and they are not clean! Thank-you Stugis!!!!
i stayed at point 1 2 years ago and i will go back any time and i would recomend it to any of my friends... so the furniture is outdatedated and the refrigerator is small... so what?????? compared to the relaxing you get over there the owners are the nicest people and they would acomudate you the best they can, 2 seconds to the beach and... oh yes! bring a cooler!!!!!! the hard matress!!! who cares? better than camping it would me much harder and the prices are the best that close to the beach, its's vacation!!!! remenber camp? its a adventure diferent from home!!!!! if you want better stay home or spend a lot more money for a room next to the beach
My family and I recently stayed at the Point One resort. Based on the previous review I was very nervous with our reservation here. This however was the last place near the beach that allowed a 2 day weekend stay during peak season and could accommodate our need for 2 rooms. It was here or nothing. Frankly I needed the get away so we took our chances and we were happily surprised. Stagis ( the gentleman who met us in the check in office) was very nice. We weren't certain if a member of our party would still be joining us and without hesitation he removed the charge for the extra adult. Ultimately this family member came a day late and Stagis did not give us a hard time with the extra car ( 3 for 2 rooms) If you have stayed in the area before you know that overnight parking is especially difficult to come by. After checking in he showed us our rooms and when asked if it would be alright to use a small grill we had brought with us he generously offered the full size propane grill and patio with picnic table. Far better choice for a family of 8! Our rooms were sufficient and as explained when reservation was made .. 2 double beds, refrigerator, microwave, shower and T.V. I brought my own coffee pot which I prefer over any offered at name brand lodging places anyway. There were no strong smells, no upholstered headboards. The T.V was dated but really? Are you at the beach to watch T.V? So it was a far cry from the previous and outdated review from 2008. None of the motels/ hotels in the area are Hampton/ Hilton quality but I wouldn't count this place out like I almost had, Point One while not a resort is now my pic for stay in Misquamicut! Thanks Stagis
I'm not quite sure what defines a resort exactly, but I can honestly say for sure that this place is about as far from a resort as you can get! From the minute you walk through the door to your room you, if the smell of curry doesn't knock you over, then the dated furniture will. The headboards consist of this strange cracked vinyl material and the mattresses are as hard as rocks! The rest of the furniture looks like it's from the 50's and has the dings and dents to prove it. The tiny refrigerator didn't get cold enough and it smelled like rotten cheese.
I won't be back to stay at this motel again. There are much better and cleaner places to vacation at in Misquamicut.
I was a little disapointed of our hotel room.I had read the reviews and it sounded pretty good. The location was great, close to the beach, walking distance. The room was lacking, the beds were horrible, hard, and you couldnt roll over without the mattres making alot of noise. The windows had only blinds and the sun would wake you up from the light coming in, and the noise of the traffic at night was very loud, bring ear plugs or something. The bedspread should of been replaced a long time ago along with the furniture, very old and worn.I wont stay there again even with the location being good.
I have just came back from Point 1, I went with 9 of my friends and we had an overall good experince. The owners where very help and very nice. We are all in our 20's and we were able to party till 3 AM with out any complaints or anything. The rooms are a little small for what you pay. We had a room with a King Bed and it was 150.00 not worth it at all for one night. But if you are looking for somewhere within walking distance to all the main attraction this is the place to be.
