Memory Motel, Montauk

the bar was packed each nite, the music was great and the hotel rooms for the money were basic and fine,it was a fun st patricks day weekend at the memory hotel

Excellent value since every other place was $200+ a night. The bar is legendary but loud so have a sense of humor as you will hear a little noise once in a while. The bar was packed every night we were in and the entertainment was great. I don't know what the other critics were talking about but our room was fine. Clean linens, more than decent carpeting, excellent water pressure which was better than my house and comfortable mattresses, everything youd expect for the price. My advice is to look at the rooms first and if you don't approve of it don't stay and then bitch afterwards.

the only reason we stayed in this dump was for the BAR.. bad idea.. the rooms were absolutely disgusting and reeked of th e most horrible cheap air freshinging stuff... probably to mask years of fish being gutted on the nasty carpets. which you CAN NOT WALK ON IN BARE FEET - sticky damp..mystery material/liquid. MUST BRING OWN BEDDING.... as theirs are disgusting/while sheets seemed clean the odor from the room permeates everything. we were shocked that the dept of health actually allows this place to operate as a business. and the only way the room was habitable was to get as drunk as humanly possible with out vomiting. (of course combo of odor and drunkenness is a nauseating one.) Certainly will NOT FORGET the memory motel any time soon as the stench still haunts my nasal cavity... 24 hours later. last night didnt even stay in room but stayed up all night ON THE BEACH. ... owners are nice and pleasant - really a shame.. NOTE TO OWNERS: duct tape is not a suitable repair for bathroom fixtures.

With Montauk rates going nothing but up simple motels like the Memory are a godsend. Rates in the low $100 range a night is better than $300 or $400 like all the others. Their advertising of simple, basic and affordble is right on the mark. For those of you who complain this is not the place for you go and spend 4 times as much.

How they charged us to stay in this cheap take-off of the Bates Motel I'll never know. I highly recomend this weird little place to everyone, but only on the last week of October. Creepy, dirty, and strange! This wanna be landmark is a haven for cockroaches and drunk teens. And good luck with the weirdo owners!!!

This is a Basic Hotel in the heart of Montauk. Always the least expensive hotel in town. Nothing Fancy. Clean. Well kept. Comfortable. A place to Sleep&Shower. If you are looking for more, go elsewhere. Walking distance to everything you need (including the Beach, the Jitney and Montauk Bakery where they line up around the block for the best breakfast it the world). The real stars here are Antoinette & Andy who Care and will take care of you. The World Famous R&R bar made infamous by the Stones (especially Mick and Carly Simon) with pool table and live music (that you dont hear in the rooms). Why would you go any place else?

This Motel is still dated from the 1950's. me and my husband want to go to montauk for an overnight trip. All the other motels and resorts were booked or overpriced. so we though let's just stay in a motel. i call ahead before booking. the mother and son owners are very, very, nice. that is what sold us. I wished that we never did. it is a bed, 20inch tv, bathroom and door. THAT IS IT! The one nice thing was that the Motel has a bar that opens at 9:30pm with really cheap drinks, no more than $3 a drink. Also one more thing, a fight broke out and at 6am a cop knocked and the door and asked me if i were in this fight. after that me and my husand left. This Motel is for fishmen and all day trips. if you are just coming to fish and to meet someone for a one night stand. great place

When we booked this motel it was kind of last minute but it was the best price around so we took it. The room was alright besides the tape holding up the window to our door. The bathroom was fairly new. This is a nice place to get if you are planning to just use it as a place to come back from the beach, shower and then go back out on the town. The man at the front desk was pretty nice and down to earth, the bar is awesome. Best location, just not for stuck up folks looking for a romantic stay.

Wow! Hasn't been cleaned, repaired, or updated since the Rolling Stones were inspired to pen a song there in 1976. Only place in town with a vacancy (now I see why). Wonderful room next to the seedy in-house bar. And in reference to the last review, they DID fix the 2 broken windows of those rooms with a shiny new roll of packing tape. Looks good!

Regretfully this motel is in grave disrepair & attracts a very unsavory clientele b/c of the price. Empty & broken beer bottles & garbage littered the sidewalk in front of the place. Location is the only good thing-its near the beach & in the village.We were there 7/4/06 & two of their hotel room windows were smashed & remained that way all weekend.
