Ocean Surf, Montauk

IN RESPONSE TO REVIEWS OLDER THAN AUGUST 2011: Since August 2011, the hotel is being run by a lovely man named Sebastian. He is SO nice and the place is wonderfully run because of him. STAY HERE! I know it can get confusing w/ all the "Ocean" named hotels in MTK, but make no mistake, this place is the BEST. I've stayed here 3x already (1x last summer, and 2x this summer) and plan on coming back again and again. (I've tried other more expensive hotels and this one is the cleanest and the staff is the best.) PROS: -Location: Across the street from the beach (entrance) and super close to everything in town (walk everywhere). - Less than 5 min. walk from Jitney stop. -Free parking. -Free beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, blankets. This is awesome, especially if you don't drive to the beach. Try lugging chairs and umbrellas on the LIRR. Trust me it's horrible. -Mini fridge, coffee machine, large screen flat tv's w/ cable, wi-fi, alarm clocks, a/c, toiletries in room (that go above and beyond like makeup remover wipes, q-tips, floss picks, toothpaste). -CLEAN. -GREAT STAFF/Service! Mostly it's run by Sebastian who is friendly and helpful. He genuinely cares about the hotel and about making sure you enjoy your stay. He really goes above and beyond. (The cleaning staff is also wonderful.) -Property: super cute, clean, and well taken care of. Lots of greenery, porch swings, a hammock, picnic tables, beach chairs, and a few different grills that you can use. It's 2 floors and each room has their own chairs outside their room so you can sit out there and relax or hang things out to dry if you want. An ice machine on each floor too. -Reasonably priced: You won't find better prices in MTK. I've looked. This is so reasonable and worth every penny. -You won't find partying college kids here thankfully. CONS: -No pool (but who cares you're across the street from the beach).

you have Ocean Resort Inn's name on property called Ocean Surf and their building is blue. Posting of phone number also incorrect to Ocean Resort Inn. Both properties are inter-mingled on this web site which should be corected by the host of the site

Booked 2 rooms at the Ocean Resort Inn for a July 2010 stay to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday, at least that was the plan. When we arrived to check in Ginny went ballistic, I can’t even repeat the language used but the gist of it was she refused our entry to the resort and told us to “GET OUT because we had to many people”. Well, as the mother of 2 children I was mortified and my daughter was crushed. After being thrown out of the Ocean Resort Inn we needed a place to stay and the Ocean Beach, Royal Atlantic and several other hotels in the area were more than willing to accept our business. It seams strange to me that every other hotel we visited was willing to accept our group with open arms but, the Ocean Resort Inn who knows my family as respectful and responsible people refused our business. Lucky for us there were vacancies at these other resorts and we settled on two ocean front rooms at the Ocean Beach and, they were more than accommodating. We have stayed at Ginny’s resort in the past with out incident but this episode has convinced me that Ginny should not be running a resort or any other business for that matter. Her behavior that day bordered on criminal and as for her professionalism, when my husband called to check the status of our refund, he was told that it would be sent out when “she is good and ready”.

I called to inquire about rates and the front desk was unable to provide information. When I asked for rates I was rudely hung up on. I guess the economy hasn't affected business for them..

Place was very clean and the maid service was good. Seconds away from the beach. However, I would watch out when dealing with the owner of the inn - Ginny. Seemingly jovial when we first checked in (something seemed off though), I got an earful when confronting her about our whirlpool not working the next day. She went on a rant about drugs she was on and telling me I had no respect when clearly she was the only one yelling. She tried to kick us out and dared me to find another place to stay during the Labor Day weekend. I was calm about the whole matter and just decided to drop it. The following day I received an apology from her (and another time afterwards) and some credit back but was it really worth being scolded like I was 12 years old? I don't think so. Also, I also experienced similar issues as other posts mentioned. The temperature of the showers were inconsistent moving from hot to cold (we stayed on the 2nd floor). Also, the bed was creaky and old. It probably could have been replaced but after my first confrontation with Ginny, I decided it was best to leave the "loose cannon" of an owner alone. They did have free Wi-Fi but our room didn't have a great signal and I was forced to just rely on my cell phone. I will definitely come back to Montauk again but not at Ginny's Inn. I can see why people rave about this place but to me, it wasn't worth it.

Customer service is amazing and the rooms have the most beautiful views to the ocean. The rooms are spacious, and the private terraces really make it worth going to "Montauk - The end" Highly recommended!!!

my husband and I went for a two nite three day stay/th owner vinnie was a very nice person and tried to accomodate us the best way he could/ the only place you want to stay in montauk is on the ocean and this place is fine/open the sliders at nite and listen to the roar of the ocean/walk on the ocean/breathe the ocean/ we barbequed by the pool side and stayed on the beach/ im going back again this year/

Watch out! I tried to make a reservation here and then they tried to change the rate they quoted me. Their website also showed the weekend I was trying to book as a normal 2 night minimum but when they sent me the reservation confirmation it was for three nights! They didn't disclose this info on the phone but were hoping I wouldn't notice and would be foolish enough to pay an extra $200! Be careful!

My husband and I went to get away from kids for anniversary. We had a downstairs room with queen bed, pull out couch, one bathroom w/ shower & toilet and another with jacuzzi & toilet. It was the perfect getaway for us and very, very clean! It was pre season and not beach weather so very quiet and peaceful. The room would also be good for summer with kids, near everything in Montauk Village.
