Clegg's Hotel has been serving Fire Island since 1946. We serve single, couples and family's. The amount of repeat business speaks volumes. The New York Times says this hotel is "clean if not immaculate."

Clegg's provided a wonderful relaxing experience. The hotel is simple and easy although provides a perfect FI experience. Steve and Eleanor provide exceptional overall service and truly made our trip to FI memorable. We thouroughly enjoyed our 20th wedding anniversary, We look forward to bringing our children out this summer and especially look forward to reuniting with the staff at Clegg's hotel. They provide simple yet outstanding personal accomadations.

horrible!!!

The rooms are tiny, noisy and dirty. One person in the staff was nice but that's it. The owner is not nice at all. This place is a joke. The only good thing about it is that it's right off the ferry but that's it. Never go there. They are liers too by the way!

Stay Away

My wife and i wanted to get away overnight without our small child, so we decided to stay on the island and we settled on Cleggs. We opted for the late check-out the following day so we could take the beach in before heading home.In the morning of our last day we were told we could not check out late( even though we paid for it the day prior and was told that there was no record that we even paid for the late check-out. ( which we did and i had receipt showing so). After we said we will check out early and packed our bags and headed to the office to a young women who was in no way able to talk to people, she left to get a i think manager, i say think because she was just as rude and unpolished. Instead of coming in and apologizing for the mistake, immediately gives us an attitude as if it was our fault for we were given a late checkout. everything about my experience there was bad. The rooms , the cleanliness and the manager makes the Cleggs most undesireable

A Charming little Inn

We loved are stay at Clegg's Hotel. The staff was friendly, the hotel was extremely clean and the location was great. We stay at the hotel several times a year. Best kept secret...The hotel is best in September, the weather is great and the beaches are empty.

We made reservations to stay at Clegg's Hotel on 7/21 - 7/22/06. My credit card was charged 1-night deposit of $175.20 to guarantee the reservation. On 7/20 a tropical storm watch was issued for Fire Island and I spoke with the owner about my concerns. He told me my deposit was non refundable if cancelled, but as a compromise he offered to try to re-rent the room that weekend and if successful my deposit would be refunded so everybody would be happy. I agreed and made it very clear if the room COULD NOT be re-rented, I had every intention of staying at the hotel to avoid loosing my deposit. I DID NOT CANCEL THE RESERVATION. The morning of 7/21, Eleanor from the hotel called me and confirmed the room had been re-rented and assured me my deposit would be credited to my credit card that afternoon. It was not until then that I decided not to stay at the hotel that weekend. To date my credit card has not been issed the credit. The owner has not responded to any of my many phone calls or emails. I am currently working with my credit card company to reverse the charge. The end result is the hotel owner collected money from two parties for the same room - he "double dipped" which I believe is unethical. BEWARE!
