Avalon Motel, Pittsburgh

Was directed here by the local gas station attendant at 3 am after 6 hours of driving. Let me just say that I have been homeless in NY and Saint Louis and my accomodations during that period were infinitely better than what the Avalon had to offer. I looked at three rooms, the last of which the clerk said, 'you'll like this one, its the good room.' Why would you wait on offering a guest a good room to start with? The place looked like something out of Hostel and I genuinely anticipated someone to jump out and shank me for drug money. Cops said that they get calls all the time about the place being shady and screwing folks out of their money. Only good thing about it is my brother and I can beat ANYONE'S horrible hotel experience story for the rest of our lives.

I am a reporter and was covering G-20 meeting during September 24-25, 2009. It was hard to get a room at a reasonable price. Avalon Motel was my savoir. Its daily rates were under $45.00 including taxes, while Hilton Pittsburgh wanted $287.00 plus taxes. Avalon Motel rooms were clean and staff very helpful. The Bus 16A was right in front of the Motel to take me to downtown Pittsburgh. I have travelled for G-20 meeting coverage to about 9 countries, I found this Motel extremely reasonable, comfortable and Economical. McDonald and Wendy's resturants were next door. I recommend this Motel and I shall retrurn.

the management treats everyone with respect and my room is clean. it's worth the money.

it has cable tv, conviently located to restuarants,etc....best value for the money
