This summer will be our 6th stay at the Topaz. My husband and I found it before we were married and now we bring our 2 kids. It is a quick walk to the beach and right at the end of the bike path. The rooms are clean and the rates are great. We tried staying on the boardwalk in Wildwood once and it was just too loud and busy. The Topaz is more relaxed and family friendly. The owner (Dan) does seem a bit flightly, but he is nice enough and always available to help. The pool is the right size for a quick dip after the beach. We are not talking about the Hilton here, but we feel safe and clean--and for the price it is a great value!!
i have stayed at the topaz for 2 years now, i absolutely love the hotel and the family that runs it are fabulous! (not to mention the owner is incredibly gorgeous!) the hotel is always spotless and people are always very nice. Its so close to the nicest part of the beach and in a really safe area. I wouldnt go anywhere else in wildwood!!
The room smelled of mold, the pool was small and the french canadiens who stayed there were rude and ignorant, not only that but it seems like the owners did not care that 10 kids were jumping onto boggie boards from the side of the pool into the pool, now the pool is small so picture that if you can, not to mention safety issues, the noise was all day and all night long until 3am in the morning, it was a awful experince which I dare say will not be repeated, stay away save your money go somewhere else let the frogs stay there and ruin it..........
Very Friendly host Wayne & Kim were GREAT! room was clean and had enough room for my family we had a 3 room efffiency and 2 blocks to the beach. If you go try the ring game by the Pool we Loved it! We would go back.
I was at the Topaz about two years ago for prom weekend. There was 4 of us and we rented the 3 room efficiency. I have never felt more comfortable in a motel. The bathrooms were clean, the kitchen was clean, the linens were clean, and the staff was pleasant and so helpful. I have no idea what motel some of these other reviewers were staying at, but this one was a great experience. I'm heading back this August 09'... Can't Wait!
in 2003, after staying at the rambler motel down the road, we decided to try a different place; and we are glad we did. the owners had daily free bbq's, they gave us arcade ticket vouchers, and always cleaned our room with that extra special "touch" that was greatly appreciated. perfect walking distance to the beach and amazing sights... SHES PERFECT!
From 1988 through 1997 my family would all get together one weekend a year at the Topaz, (we would take up 19 of the 21 rooms). Back then it was great, the owners were Bob and Jenny. The place was clean inside and out and Jenny was an excellent baker and would make all kinds of pasteries for Saturday and Sunday mornings at the pool. When we arrived on Friday there was a wine and cheese party. Unfortunately Jenny became very ill and they had to sell the place. My brother went back a year or so after the new owners took over and he said the place went down hill quick. I have not been back since but it is very sad that a place where we had so many good times and memories was let go. How can people own a business and not take care of there customers? I would love to go back but from the reviews I read I do not want to take the chance. NOTE: My ratings are from when I used to go there in the 80's and 90's, also I picked 2009 as date visited because it would not go back that far.
Familly friendly 7-8 minutes walking distance from the beach. Owner Kim and Daniel are just nice people to be with. Every now and then they provided us with little suprise snack and othe stuff.
This motel and the pool are clean but it's not a Trump tower... it needs a little bit of "love" but it is well enough for what we need!!
We will be back with the 5 other Québec's familly for the 3rd time this year!
This hotel was so bad the owner was very nice and it seemed like a layed back place. When we arrived we went into room 5. as soon as we walked in we smelled the mold that a previous review had mentioned. I thought i was going crazy from reading the review. The room was so dirty that we arrived at 9 at night and walked around until we were tired so we would not have to spend any more time in the room as possible and the time we spent walking around we looked for other motels. after seeing there was not a hotel for a better price we went back to the room for the night. I could not sleep because The bed was stiff as a bored. The quilt that we had for a blanket was as old as the pictures the website showed. When we awoke in the morning we both woke up sick from breathing in the mold. We walked around that morning and found a nice hotel right on the beach for the same price and much much cleaner. We checked out and as i was bringing the bags to the car a cockroche fell out from one of our bags we left open. Save your money and find a better hotel because this was the worst motel i had ever stayed at.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! They don't know what they are doing, and the owner is very rude! We were told our room would have 2 double beds and a sofa bed, we get to the room and it only has one double bed and a sofa bed...for 6 adults that just wasnt going to work. So they acknowledged they made a mistake and put us in a room with 2 double beds and a pull out sofa bed only to come back a half hour later to kick us out of that room because they had a family booked for that room already..so why did they put us there in the first place? The owner was very rude and not professional at all, walking around in a t-shirt and underwear. We decided there was no way we were goign to stay there and give that woman our money, so we found a much better and bigger hotel room only a block away at the Cozy Crest for the same price.
