Coming to the Viking Motel was a great decision, where should i start? First the location couldn't be any better, we came without a car and getting places was still convenient and fast. The motel was a great place to stay. Our room had all the necessities, we didn't need anything more. The pool there was also a good addition to the motel, the kids would spend hours there. And at night after a long day of energy draining activities we loved coming back to the motel, to later sleep like babies. One last thing about the motel is that it is very serene and quiet. So in conclusion the motel is simple but cozy.
The motel owners were also very nice. There purpose seemed to be to mostly make sure that everyone was fine and having a good time. Also they are very friendly and have a way of making you feel like family. On the day when everyone was forced to evacuate the area, because of the incoming hurricane we tried to call a taxi but it never came, and so one of the owners asked if we wanted a ride. That there is a good samaritan act. Instead of just letting us wait for the never to come taxi, they helped us get to the bus terminal.
Now speaking about your budget, this motel doesn't take that much money out of your pocket. We are a family of four and we stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. The price was 150 dollars a day because of the type of room we had, which in the bigger picture isn't that much. So the price is around that range, depending of course on the type of room you pick (types of rooms are shown on their website).
In conclusion the Viking Motel is a simple but cozy, place. It is located conveniently next to the beach, and the wild woods boardwalk isn't that far either. The money that we invested into this mini vacation did not go to waste. We had a great time there, and I would recommend this to anyone, who is looking for an excellent time in wild woods, new jersey.
I just got off the phone making my reservations for July, and was again reminded at how friendly and accomodating the folks at this place are. This will be our seventh year going there, and my wife and kids would revolt on me if I told them that we would stay anywhere else. This is an older "doo wop" style place, but it is very clean, affordable and has character. At the moment there is a foot of snow outside my door, but it is a nice feeling knowing that in 7 months, we will be relaxing in a place where we are treated as family.
first off we came in the room and the drop ceiling looked as if it was ready to fall down. next when we try to use the toilet it moved along with me..it was not screwed into the floor..(filthy). the shower curtain was filthy, it was black on the inside..it had algea already forming on it.
i went down to the office to tell them about the toilet and the lady in the office promised to have it fixed and for the entire stay nobody came to even take a look at it...let alone fix it.
when you go there take at least 4 rolls of toilet paper with you because in this though economy they are very hesitant about giving out too much of it. for a family of 4 for a whole 7 days stay we were furnished with 2.5 rolls of toilet paper. i had to go to a local rite aid to get toilet paper at night.
and if that was not enough...prepare for the ant attack. this place is full of ants. They are everywhere. in your food on the table, in the bed, on the floor, in the bathroom - looks like these people don't invest any money on pest control. the air conditioning unit in the wall has probably not seen any cleaning and maintenance since it was new. the filter was so badly covered with dust and residue that the thing bareley could pump any air..forget about fresh air.
don't get fooled by the positive reviews as many people base their reviews on the fact that they do have a nice inground pool. and that is a fact. the pool is very nice but that is the only good thing that i can say about this motel.
beware and do yourself a favor stay away from this place ...for this money you can get a much better place to stay and not have to put up with a dancing toilet, no toilet paper, smelly ac unit, ants, and filthy tub curtains.
This was the second time we stayed at the hotel and will keep going back! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our air conditioner broke when we first got into the room. When we went to the office to tell the manager and he went to our room right away and put in a new air conditioner (brand new). They socialize with the guests and make you feel right at home. The rooms and pool are very clean. The maid service was great. She was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. If at anytime we needed any extra (towels, etc) we got them right away. It is an older style motel, however it was the best stay we have had in Wildwood. Great stay for families!!
This Motel makes you feel like your at home. Close to the beach, tennis courts, bike path to the boardwalk. A real big "BANG" for your buck. The rooms and pool area are very clean and the owners, John and Dorathy are the nicest motel owners that I have met in over 45 years that I have been going to the Wildwoods. They make you feel like family during your stay.
