Balboa Motel, Virginia Beach

I read the reviews on this place and I was very sceptical, but I talked to the owner on the phone, she asked me to just stop in and take a look at the place.I was pleasently surprised. The place is spotless, and a great deal, we got the efficiancy everything was in the kitchen clean and ready to go, plates,cups, silverware, pans and mixing bowls. The owners run this place and take alot of pride in thier business.You won't find a better deal or a cleaner room. Oh and the pool is great,too! the trolley stops right across the street, 7/11 is 1 block down, 2 grocery stores within 2 blocks great location! We got on the 3rd floor and could see the ocean from our balcony. We know where we will stay for all furture trips to Va beach!

Small family owned business. Nice pool. Clean rooms w small fridge(dont always get at other hotels).Owners and staff are helpful. One block from the boardwalk. Why pay extra when it is a very short walk to get sand in your toes! We alway refer to friends. All rooms have balcony's overlooking pool and facing the ocean. Give the Balboa a try!

When I spoke to the owner on the phone she said they pride themselves on their cleanliness! When we got there, our children, 7 and 4. were worried about taking off their shoes! Very dirty! We left after the first evening and paid a bit more to stay on the strip. Never again!!!!!!!

We had a group of four girls going for a weekend-all 20 years of age. The minimum check in age is 21, but the owners were nice enough to let us stay. We had to switch rooms because the guys staying next to us (who also appeared to be living there, not visiting...) were partaking in illegal activities and trying to enter our room through the adjoining door. The owners were nice enough to switch us. The rooms are clean-you get what you pay for. Good service, just very interesting guests.

This hotel is definitely older and in need of updating, but overall, it is in relatively good condition. Rooms were clean and spacious and the kitchen was fairly well equipped. Quiet and has a small but nice pool. Good value--about $50/night cheaper than the La Quinta a couple blocks away.

THE KITCHEN NEEDS TO BE UPDATED, BUT OVERALL, GOOD FOR THE MONEY. WILL STAY AGAIN. NICE LOCATION FOR THOSE OF US WHO DO NOT NEED TO BE RIGHT ON THE OCEAN. IT IS ONLY A SHORT WALK.
