only as a last resort
We stay at this hotel/casino because we are usually offered complimentary rooms. If we had to pay, I'd give the hotel a pass. The lines at the check-in are usually very long in the late afternoons.
The hotel units are constructed of cinderblock. The furnishings are tired and worn. The carpets tend to be quite dirty looking, as are the toilet area corners etc. I won't go shoeless in the rooms no matter what. I would rather suffocate than turn on the grotty looking air conditioning unit. I have not witnessed any upgrades or retrofits to the rooms in the three years we've stopped by and they are beyond due.
The casino is dark and can be smoky at times. At the time of our last visit there seemed to be an inordinate number of slot machines out of service.
We have eaten in the restaurant and I am ambivalent about the food.
All in all I'd say the Virgin River Convention Center is barely adequate as an evening stopover and definitely not a place I'd spend more than one night's stay.
