Desert Skies Motel, Gallup

In Desert Skies Motel lot of people wire drunk and knocking the door all night and the when i go in the room there was Beer on the table so i did not like at

I spend a lot of time in motel rooms due to the type of work I do. If you are looking for a five star hotel, just drive right on by the Desert Skies! If you are looking for a safe clean reasonably priced place to spend a night or a month, this is probably gonna be your best bet in Gallup. The building is old, but well maintained. When problems pop up the owner is quick to try and repair them.......ALL ROUND GOOD DEAL!!!!!

My wife and I were in the Gallup area in July 2008 and we had to stay at the Desert Skies again. I was impressed when we stayed there in 2006 and I have nothing but good things to say this time as well. It continues to be one of my favorite motels on old Route 66 in New Mexico. The outside property and the room were well kept, clean and tidy. The air conditioning worked well and the bathroom was in good and working order. The manager/owner was friendly and courteous. Room prices were once again very reasonable. My favorite part of this old motel is the fact that it represents a piece of Americana of bygone era. Definitely not a cookie cutter chain motel, this place has character. Probably built sometime in the 1950s, it has a great old neon sign out front, classic old motel architecture, great aqua blue trim and room doors and a general feel of old Route 66. If you want to be part of a rapidly disappearing relic of road history the Desert Skies is for you! We'll almost surely be back for a third stay, next time we are in Gallup!

We're currently staying here for 3 days and i have to say this is just ridiculous the couple who owns this place our incredibly rude.My grandmother paid for room 1, the only room with a refrigerator, we are in room 4. The first night staying here the sounds of trains passing on a frequent kept us up at night, and the rooms next to us were incredibly loud.The next morning we asked the owner about the noises coming from next door and found that it was the owners home and he refused to turn anything down. that morning i went over to my grandmothers room because she was saying that she couldn't plug in the refrigerator, the nearest outlet to the mini-fridge was about twelve feet away so i had to position it awkwardly between the bed and the wall to even use it, it worked great but later on in the day the manager came by and made her switch rooms because apparently the fridge is just for show even though it costed extra. The wifi here is terrible no matter how close you are to the main router, its radio signal frequently disconnects about every three minutes and at one point i had a four bar connection(about 60%status) and couldn't connect at all for about an hour, so i ask the owner how to connect(guessing that he blocked me from the server) and he said that as long as i take my computer outside next to the bricks of the motel office i can get a strong connection. Room service is terrible and every time that woman comes by to clean/renew anything shes ask in this manner, "you guys don't need you sheets/towels changed do you?etc. When we asked them if there were any attractions we should see or happenings in town or near-by they replied, "I don't know, ask my husband we're not here to entertain"The air conditioner has only two settings, on and off so you either can spend the day under the blankets or in swim-wear, the tv's here all seem to have something wrong with the color and the doors all have some sort of "trick" to get them open.We asked the owner today if he could dispose of the trash in our room and he said that he came by earlier today to check rooms and he's not coming by again for any reason. I have no idea why these people think that they're customers owe them something but for the money we spent on two bug infested, filthy, out of date motel rooms you'd think we would be treated with some respect.Possibly the cheapest inn in town but trust me its much better paying another 50 bucks for a brand name motel.

The most rude service i have ever encountered and the absolute most dirty, filthy, nasty bug infested rooms i have ever seen!

The receptionist barely spoke english and promised a room with a refrigerator and a microwave for $25. When I arrived however, no room was available and whoever was behind the desk had no knowledge of my calling or any desire to talk with me.

this place is at the top of the top ten list of worst places to stay. the room was moldy and the owner was rude and refused to give a refund. instead we were offered another moldy room.allergy sufferes beware. we never even took our luggage into the room.

I booked a room for 4 days and found fleas on the bed. When i told the manager about it, he said he would not give me a refund. I told him i would report him to the BBB and he said, " I don't GIve A F@*#. Needless to say i just had to leave without my refund. Worst Motel i have ever stayed at.
