Hope Ranch Inn, Santa Barbara

I was hesitant when we pulled in,it is an older place. I booked it via online and going to see UCSB on a very tight budge... but the rooms were very clean and comfy. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and nice. I would stay here again :)

The Hope Ranch Inn is a little run-down place that can only be compared to the Bate's Motel in Psycho or The motel in the movie Identity. I was just hoping I wouldn't end up dead at the hope ranch inn. Definitly decorated by the Goodwill or Salvation Army. No A/C in a place notorious for high temperatures. The shower was horrible as the showerhead is non-existant and the water comes out so hard you feel like your being beaten to death. Just glad I came home in one piece. No pool...no nothing just a crabby innkeeper who can't tolerate the slightest noise.

The room for one night (saturday) was $119. It seems like a lot, but what you get is definitely worth it. Not to mention, every other hotel/motel is at least $180+. The room was small, but had a little kitchen which is great, if you need an INN to stay at for a week or so. It's right off the freeway, so it's very convenient. There was no A/C, but the room cooled down by nightfall, and there were two fans and a lot of windows. Great for students. Not for families. No pool or spa.
