Because of the reviews on yahoo we almost didn't stay at Wooden Nickel for our family weekend get a way I'm so glad we decided to try them. My wife and kids just loved it. The cabins are very nice and very clean and had everything we needed. We were even lucky enough to have it snow while there kids loved it!! There is a play area and the property backs up to the forest so you can walk around in the woods. This was one of the most relaxing, friendly places we have ever stayed at. I do not recomend Wooden Nickel if you want the fast pace, it is close to restuarnts and a country store but they are not within walking distance. We will be back!!
We stayed at the Wooden Nickel for two nights and one was too many. Like another reviewer, we felt very unwelcome. There were rules posted on the wall and almost everyone was a "do not do this", "do not do that", "cannot have outside guests". The worst part, however was the duck tape used to tape over the shower curtain liner holes and repunch holes to reuse the shower curtain. The bed linens and mattresses looked like they might have been used during the Billy the Kid time period. Needless to say, we will not be back there and will not be recommending it to others.
We thought because the place was in Christopher Creek that we'd be near the crek, which was not the case. The whole "lodge' which is only 5 cabins is part of a residential area with other homes. The cabins look like they are model homes with cabin-looking siding on them. We were also not allowed to have any guests and we felt completely unwelcome. We will not be back to the Wooden Nickle - ever!
