Marengo Inn, Los Angeles

We picked this hotel because of convenience - it is right across the LAC-USC Hosp. I had an early morning appointment for a procedure at USC hosp and I live 120 miles away. I didn't want to deal with waking up at 3am to be on the road at 4am and deal with bad traffic on 101 fwy. If one is expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel, this place will be a disappointment. But I was not disappointed because I was not there for a luxurious vacation. I just needed a safe and clean room to stay for the night for my early hospital appointment. The room was decent looking, clean sheets, clean room and bathroom, aircon working, microwave and fridge working, you pay extra 10 bucks for tv remote which get refunded upon checkout. I like the fact that they lock the gated entrance at night and night visitors are not allowed - I felt secure. I would definitely go back there for future early morning hospital procedures. I literally just crossed the street to go to the hospital. The hotel staff were nice and helpful. You can't find this hotel on priceline and other websites.

Secured parking a plus. Clean bedding and towels. Floor needed vacuuming. There was an annoying hum coming from somewhere nearby. Cost me $65 for one night.

This is absolutely the worst place i have stayed in. Horrible smell, lousy facilities and not cheap either. you can get in a much better place for the money you spend here.

Had to stay for one day for a visit at the general hospital. Have never been to Southern Cali, didnt expect much. But was shocked when i got to the Inn. not much to look at from the outside, but inside was good, had a clean room, which was non smoking and not like some places ive been to where non smoking is just no ash trays. this room didnt have any smoking at all. or non that i could see or smell. the front desk helped me find locations to eat and gave me direction to and from the locations. allowed me to leave my bags at the hotel so i didnt have to take them to the hospital. and when i came back at 3 pm my bags were still in the room, but had been cleaned, Over all i was glad this hotel helps guest and accommodates us to their needs.

from what i have read from the past reviews about Marengo Inn, we were expecting that this place would be really worse than anyone can ever think of. but we were so surprised when we arrived. it was a really great place. the vicinity is superb, it's right across LAC-USC so you can just imagine just how safe you'll be if ever an emergency comes up. another best thing about marengo inn's vicinity is that main buslines going to downtown LA pass by right in front of it. the motel is very safe but not the neighborhood. they have working heaters, airconditioning, and comfortable beds and clean linen. the management is very kind to us. they offered us free use of their microwave oven, free access of their wi-fi internet, free cable tv and free adult entertainment too. the bad thing it is that the corridor doesnt smell good. its smells like a bowling alley. and another thing that i think travelers should be aware of is that their check-in time is 4 pm (not 12 to 2pm like other motels/hotels) and their check out is 11am, no extensions allowed. but all in all, its a good place to start if you're moving to LA or California.

This place is right across the street from the LAC+USC Medical Center where I was doing some training. My husband flew out to visit me but unfortunately, he couldn't stay at the facility where I was. We chose this place simply on location and it is HORRIBLE. The place smells like someone died and they didn't catch it until days later. The carpet and furnishings were dirty. We were just thankful to have clean sheets and towels. The "House Rules" seem like they are meant to keep out hookers and their johns. The staff was indifferent but they weren't rude. They required a $10 deposit to have a remote control. The only plus was that they had Wi-Fi capability.
