Beware who you book your TOG reservation through!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/11
Based on a close friend's recommendation, my wife made reservations two months prior to our stay because it is our anniversary "get-away" and we wanted the "perfect" room. She spoke to a very nice girl in reservations that recommended a ocean view room that would give us a wonderful view "even better than the ocean front" as long as we were above the 10th floor. My wife called 3 days before our scheduled arrival date to confirm the 14th flr room that was booked and all was well. When we showed up at the Towers, we were told we'd need to drive down to the Prince Resort to check in because our reservation was booked through them. Now we called the 843 number from the Wyndham Towers on the Grove website & no one ever mentioned to us that we were dealing with another resort. The girl at the Towers said that the Prince Resort owned a block of rooms at the Towers and all of our correspondence would need to be with them. When we showed up at the reservations desk, the 14th floor room we were promised was not available and we were given a room on the 2nd floor on the backside of the hotel with a view of ocean boulevard instead of the ocean! This room is literally between the "fire pump room" which hums 24 hours a day and the "trash chute" room. We literally heard trash coming down the chute from the upper floors at all hours of the day & night as well! I assure you that I am not exagerrating one tiny bit - this has to be the worst location in the entire hotel. We were awakened on our second morning by a delivery truck just below our room which took about 10 minutes to finally back into the garage directly below us. We are currently listening to ocean blvd traffic instead of the ocean. The general manager at the Prince Resort - Stephanie - had a nasty attitude from the start and when we threatened to cancel the reservation her response was a perky "that's fine"and she just looked at us. How do these people become managers with that attitude?! Unfortunately, we had no other place to go so we're stuck with the 2nd floor room. The Prince Resort is managed by the Avista Resort & the only small bit of satisfaction we received was after speaking to a reservations manager at the Avista & we were given a $63 refund for a 3 night stay. Needless to say, this didn't replace our botched anniversary getaway. Stephanie had offered to "see what she could do" as far as compensation for the screw-up, but she never returned our phone calls after we checked into the room, which just added to our frustration. It took me over an hour on the phone just to track down who was ultimately responsible for issues at the Prince - not exactly what you want to have to do on your vacation. I had started with a phone call to the 1-800 number for Wyndham, but since the Prince Resort owns the rooms, the Wyndham customer service rep would not offer any help whatsoever. You would think that they would be concerned with customer service issues of any kind at their hotel since it's a direct reflection on their resort, but they offered zero assistance. I assure you that I will never spend another dime of my money at any Wyndham, Avista, or definately the Prince Resort in Cherry Grove/North Myrtle Beach. Luckily I have some influence over travel with my employer & we will not be booking any stays with these resorts as long as I can help it. My advice is to find another resort to stay if you want a professional management staff in case your reservation doesn't go as planned.

Hoffman Group/Towers will steal your $$$ .
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/10
Hoffman Group is a corrupt real estate company. They built Towers on the Grove. They took deposits in early 2006 and didn't get approval to build the condos until Dec. 2006. Then rewrote all the contracts, they won't return deposit money. Hoffman Group and Towers on the Grove are crooked. Stay away.

Avoid This Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/10
Booked a room through Priceline, but at the time of check in they had no record of the reservation. Priceline had no explanation, other than to confirm they did book the room and had confirmation. Guess the wyndham decided not to honor booking through Priceline.

we won't be returning!
By Joanne, 9/12/10
they us deceptive booking practices... pay for an ocean view and get a boulevard view...booked through priceline... they said I got what I wanted... since when does ocean front mean boulevard view of the parking deck! The towers were unwilling to talk to us since we booked through priceline... started a pleasant conversation with 6 people in the elevator... all had similar stories... not a place I will be returning.. no one would refund us our money we were trapped there for 2 days.... it take approximatly 18 years to forget a bad experience.... this will be one...... don't pay ahead... they have you then!!!!!

a big disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/10
My husband and I stayed May 2010 for our 1yr. wedding anniversary we had reserved a large room with one king bed 2 1/2 bath with full kitchen and living room. When we went into the room we had a very small room with two dubble beds in the same room. Not very romatic at all!!!! The employees at the front desk would not do anything to help and were kind of rude to my husband and I. They told us that the room you pay for and reserve is subject to change at any time without any notice, and also that if the owners come and want to stay in their condo they cant boot you out. We were not able to get any of our money back even though we ended up with a small cheaper room. During our stay we met people who had the same problem and others whose room was cancelled without notice. We will never go back to Towers.

Better Than Expected
By avonsuperfonman, 8/31/09
I booked this trip last minute in November of 2008. It was too good to be true and I was expecting the worst. The picture was too good to be true. When we arrived, my family was ecstatic. My kids loved having their own bedroom, we all had ocean views. And the best thing was watching the sun rise while laying in bed through the floor to ceiling window. It was heaven. And I did not feel in anyway my kids were unwelcomed as I have at other hotels. Kitchen, furniture, tv in every room. My gosh, watching the Colts game while listening to the ocean, can I move here?

can't wait to go back!!!!!
By jodie, 6/18/09
the pictures on the web site were great but in person it was no justice. this stay was a graduation present to my son. the service was great the staff really made you feel very welcome. it was a nine star hotel on a scale 1-4. you could not have asked for anything else. the pricing was right in line with what i normally spend on motel rooms that has no extra. i highly recommend towers on the grove to any one and i will be going back. pools were very clean and so were the spa's Jodie

Can't wait to go in July!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/09
I loved Towers on the Grove! It's very clean, nice working people, if traveling with kids then I RECCOMMEND this resort. My kids had lots of fun on the slide. Not to crowded but will be later on in the year. We stayed in February and it was very nice. Only abbout 5-10 minutes to North Myrtle Beach. Great eating phycilities. The gym is very nice. I do reccomend this place.

Spring Break '09 w/ Family, just ok
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/09
Of course everything was clean, just opened in Nov '08. Pools just opened 2 weeks ago, water slide was still not open. There is not a true "outdoor" or "indoor" pool which was disappointing. The only pool is small, heated and covered by roof (not inclosed). Outdoor there is a lazy river and hot tub. Outdoor amenties were very disappointing if you are traveling with kids. The location was nice. It's close enough to Myrtle but far enough from all the craziness. There are not many places to eat close by the resort. Parking is across the street and unloading area is a pain!!! Maid service only picks up and replaces towels... does not make beds, etc. For the price of the hotel, and lack of amentities, I'm not sure we will return.
