Beware who you book your TOG reservation through!

Based on a close friend's recommendation, my wife made reservations two months prior to our stay because it is our anniversary "get-away" and we wanted the "perfect" room. She spoke to a very nice girl in reservations that recommended a ocean view room that would give us a wonderful view "even better than the ocean front" as long as we were above the 10th floor. My wife called 3 days before our scheduled arrival date to confirm the 14th flr room that was booked and all was well. When we showed up at the Towers, we were told we'd need to drive down to the Prince Resort to check in because our reservation was booked through them. Now we called the 843 number from the Wyndham Towers on the Grove website & no one ever mentioned to us that we were dealing with another resort. The girl at the Towers said that the Prince Resort owned a block of rooms at the Towers and all of our correspondence would need to be with them. When we showed up at the reservations desk, the 14th floor room we were promised was not available and we were given a room on the 2nd floor on the backside of the hotel with a view of ocean boulevard instead of the ocean! This room is literally between the "fire pump room" which hums 24 hours a day and the "trash chute" room. We literally heard trash coming down the chute from the upper floors at all hours of the day & night as well! I assure you that I am not exagerrating one tiny bit - this has to be the worst location in the entire hotel. We were awakened on our second morning by a delivery truck just below our room which took about 10 minutes to finally back into the garage directly below us. We are currently listening to ocean blvd traffic instead of the ocean. The general manager at the Prince Resort - Stephanie - had a nasty attitude from the start and when we threatened to cancel the reservation her response was a perky "that's fine"and she just looked at us. How do these people become managers with that attitude?! Unfortunately, we had no other place to go so we're stuck with the 2nd floor room. The Prince Resort is managed by the Avista Resort & the only small bit of satisfaction we received was after speaking to a reservations manager at the Avista & we were given a $63 refund for a 3 night stay. Needless to say, this didn't replace our botched anniversary getaway. Stephanie had offered to "see what she could do" as far as compensation for the screw-up, but she never returned our phone calls after we checked into the room, which just added to our frustration. It took me over an hour on the phone just to track down who was ultimately responsible for issues at the Prince - not exactly what you want to have to do on your vacation. I had started with a phone call to the 1-800 number for Wyndham, but since the Prince Resort owns the rooms, the Wyndham customer service rep would not offer any help whatsoever. You would think that they would be concerned with customer service issues of any kind at their hotel since it's a direct reflection on their resort, but they offered zero assistance. I assure you that I will never spend another dime of my money at any Wyndham, Avista, or definately the Prince Resort in Cherry Grove/North Myrtle Beach. Luckily I have some influence over travel with my employer & we will not be booking any stays with these resorts as long as I can help it. My advice is to find another resort to stay if you want a professional management staff in case your reservation doesn't go as planned.
