Ocean West Motel, Myrtle Beach

A real South Carolina gem! Southern hospitality, friendly family environment! Great pool and convenient location 5min walk to the beach. I will definitely be back! Oh and they have the BEST crab legs across the street!!!!

I actually just left today after being there for five days and I can say that I really enjoyed my stay there! The hotel staff was so friendly and willing to help at all hours of the day. For example, my friend was not feeling good at about two in the morning so the owner's wife went and got us some pepto bismol. Also, the only bug problem we experienced was the fact that we had a wasps nest forming outside of our room, but they took care of that as soon as we reported it to them. While we were there, the Orkit man came and sprayed all the rooms which they said they do monthly so I'm very surprised anyone said they saw bugs. I really like this place because the owners made it feel like home. They had a barbecue during my stay because the owners daughter got married. The food was very good and free (we are college kids so we love free food)! Also, the staff always wanted to know how we were doing, and would give suggestions on things to do since we had never been there before. I would recommend this place for many reasons. The number one reason would be the location. It is located just a few blocks from the beach, so just a short 5 minute walk. The motel is between 3rd and 2nd Avenue so either road you walked up would take you to the beach. Also, there are many restaurants and souvenir shops within walking distance as well as mini golf and the family fun amusement park. The second reason would be the price. For its cleanliness, location, amenities, and hospitality, it is very reasonably priced! The one thing I did want to say about the pool is that he did not play loud music. We went to the pool about three times and he only played music out there for one of those days but it was very quiet and relaxing music. I will be there again!

Clean sheets and fresh towels are always provided whenever I visit this motel. I have never seen any roaches or bugs of any kind in the rooms. Kyle is always available to meet anyone's accommodations and his wife is a very hardworking women who provides a barbecue meal for all guests with all the extras prepared by herself. I have never seen her be rude to any customers and I have been staying at this motel since they opened every year.beach!

The location was the only thing this place had going for it. Ill make this short and to the point. If you like fleas,bed bugs and the smell of an alcoholic then this is the place for you. The parking sucked and the wife of the owner was VERY RUDE. But like I said the location was ok.

I have stayed at the Ocean West several times. I have in 14 months never had a single complaint, nor have I seen a single bug, let alone a roach!! the rooms are all recently renovated, and very clean. The house keeping is stellar, to say the least. Kyle (owner) puts on a FREE BBQ each and every weekend, complete with side dishes and beverages. Ocean west is the only motel i have seen on the beach with free long distance. I would recommend this motel to my family, and any one else looking for an affordable stay in Myrtle Beach. Also the location can't be beat, several attractions within blocks and 2 blocks from the beach.

The hotel upon first sight seemed quiet cozy. The owners were just as delightful and were great host. Enjoyed the music and BBQ by the pool. We felt like we were family. Very enjoyable. The location was great. Room was very clean and recently remodeled +(smoke free). I give the thumbs-up! Rates were reasonable.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights at Ocean West in the middle of June with the grand total of our stay being $163.17. We arrived on a Thursday and left on Sunday. The room we stayed in was small but doable. It was very clean and maid service came daily. The phone in the room did not work. We informed the owner and he did have it fixed right away but did not inform us of how to dial out at all until we asked. There were special codes for dialing out. Their motto is walk a little, save a lot but it is a bit of a walk to the beach. On their website it said they will take you for free anywhere you need to go with their golf carts including the beach, parks and so on but during our entire stay this service was not offered to us nor did we see any golf carts at all. The worst thing about this motel was the loud music. The owner will play music during the day by the pool for whomever is swimming which is ok I guess but not only is this music very loud but he plays it until the early morning hours with no regard to the fact that his guests are trying to sleep. Our first night there he played it until 3am, the second night he played it so loud and so late the cops came and made him turn it off. It wasn't until our final night that he turned the music off at midnight. Our stay was ok but we will not be returning to Ocean West again.

FOR THE COST, THE ROOM WAS CLEAN.THE OWNER GIVES A BAR-B-QUE BY THE POOL ON EVERY SAT. ITS LOCTION IS 2 BLOCKS TO THE FUN PARK AND 5 BLOCKS TO THE STRIP.
