this was the most disgusting nastiest filthiest place i have ever stayedthe electricity did not work no lights no tv we figured it out that everything was unplugged the reason being the outlets were hanging out of the wall with exposed wires the dresser drawers were broken the "couch" that folds into a bed was filthy no bed clothes when we asked for them we were told good luck with that there was hair in the tub dust balls all over the place the door had been pryed open several times by the looks of it and in one of the drawers we found what we suspected was a drug dealers list of people who owed him money an empty box of kleenex with the cover thrown in the sink after staying 1 night we got out of there very early the next morning not like we slept well anyway we felt very unsafe this was without a doubt the worst experience in a hotel in my entire life i felt horrible for having taken my grandchildren to such a place
I should've paid attention to the others who left bad reviews for this place They were telling the truth I took my friend, my 13 yr old son, his friend It was so nasty When I got there the manager checked us in He was very rude over an extra parking space that I requested when I made the reservation It was just before 3pm so he checked to see if the room was ready He told us that it was clean but needed towels so he checked us in He put us on the 6th floor To get to the 6th floor you ride up the tiniest, hottest elevator to the 5th floor, then carry your luggage up a flight of stairs When we got up there the maid stopped us in the hall saying we have to wait in the hall cause she hasn't finished cleanning. At 3:30 30 min after check-in time, the maid lets us in After I put down the lugguage I go to the bathroom. I was horrified There was a bloody pad in the toilet and pubic hair on the seat That sent me looking at everything There were potato chips and bottle caps on the carpet The microwave was filthy The sheets/pillow cases didn't appear to have been changed from the previous visitor The plastic chairs on the balcony were both broken. The couch was stained and ripped The air conditioner was barely working All the staff could say is that they were sorry They even tried to explain it away saying that it happened because it was Monday and everyone had check out at once That's no excuse for trying to pass that room off as clean or ready We checked out after I took pictures, gave the staff a piece of my mind and found somewhere else to stay. The pictures on their site are not a true depiction of what's there There are much better places to stay that cost a lot less Theres no puctuation here because this page thinks its a link to a website
It was a nice hotel, nothing fancy but for the price you can't beat it & it's right on the beach. The rooms are clean, it has a nice outdoor pool & a small indoor hot tub. The parking can get a little hectic. Big SUV's are supposed to park on the upper level & car's on the lower level. We had a SUV & had to complain to the office because there were a couple of car's parked on the upper level a couple of times. That was the only problem that we had. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are going back for a week in July 2011.
I HAVE NEVER GIVEN ANY1 A BAD REVIEW BEFORE, BUT ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.....When I arrived... my room DID NOT face the ocean. after calling twice to verify that my room DID face the ocean. i was very upset. I called the desk and he appoligized and was very kind and offered to discount my room, (stating that was all he could do, because all the other rooms were booked). I wasnt happy, but because he was SO NICE i accepted, (kindness can cure many things). So now im in this depressing room but determined to make the most of it. then on sat. morn the "so called manager" was on duty durring the breakfast shift. she was rude not only to my family about the breakfast issue, but to everyone in the lobby. my husband was in the lobby as people were complaining and very upset. it wasnt what she was saying, it was how she was saying it. she was rude, & nasty. apparently you have to eat breakfast in the lounge area, BUT we were told at check out that we could. and she allowed it the day before. but on sat. she was very nasty and rude. It wasnt about the breakfast, it was about her manner...I was unhappy about my room situation, but because the young man was so nice I would come back, but i will not tolerate rudeness and will not be visiting again. I come to myrtle beach ALOT, and i never complain, even when my room is not up to par, cause i get what I pay for... buty I DO NOT the rooms were not that clean, and the place was run down... but when u have hospitality those things dont matter, but when u put nasty atmosphere with nasty attiude, its unexeptable.
for $79 i got a room on the top level facing the ocean, it was great. i really was expecting the worst, not even sure why. I walked in and the room just felt clean! I'm not a germaphob* so i didn't go around searching for things wrong with it, One of the most comfortable beds i've ever slept in at a hotel, and I have been to some nice hotels, even the pillows were perfect. The staff was great, one of them was a younger guy and he was nice, and i had an older guy that just kept crackin me up, he was hilarious.
the only complaint i can even think of is just the area where the hot tub is, is really humid and musty but i guess that has a lot to do with the temperature of the water.
Seriously, if you want the Hilton, then go there. You people are really writing rediculous comments. I was just there in August with my husband and it is not even as close to as bad as you people say it it. Yes it is an old hotel and yes the rooms are small but it in no way smells like dead hooker plastered behind the walls. This hotle is great for the money. It is right on the beach and the rooms are clean and don't smell bad and you are not going to get a parasite from sleeping in the beds. I just wanted to let everyone know that it is not that bad because when I read these reviews I was a nervous wreck wondering what we had gotten ourselves into but after arriving we quickly found out that these people are way too picky. I mean if you are expecting a five star hotel with continental breakfast and a mint on your pillow then no don't stay here but if you do want a cheap room that is clean and in a great location then yea definetly try this place out. Yea the rooms are small but who spends that much time in their room at the beach anyway. For those of you who wrote these awful review I have to tell you that you are being unfair and this hotel is not as bad as you say it is.
I stayed for for 4 or 5 days because I didn't want to move, but the room was nasty! Ok, bottom line here is I strongly suggest that no one stay here if they are concerned with their health. Every night I felt like I was getting bitten by something, then a rash developed, and after a visit to the emergency room I found out that I had been infected by A PARASITE!!!!!! That's right, a parasite moving up my leg!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!
Hi I have heard a lot of neg. reviews about Econo Lodge so I checked it out myself by accident. I was down there on a secret shop for another location but it was so horrible at the other location we went to the Econo Lodge 1401 S. Ocean Blvd. I have never been there before but let me tell you 5 adults (2 secret shoppers) and 3 children are very glad we went there. Frank who signed us in was awesome, he was so nice and friendly he made us feel right at home. He treated us as friends instead of customers. All of the staff went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable as well comfortable and fun. We had a great time enjoying the free breakfast (especially the yummy fresh muffins), beach, hot tub, the vast underground parking garage that kept our car cool and away from the wind and sand, the spacious and clean pool. I even got in the baby pool with 3 of the children it was warm and clean my grandson age 14 months and granddaughters ages 3 and 6 enjoyed both pools. And of course we loved room 209 we had a beach front view inside the room and on the balcony. The room was clean and well stocked although we did get extra’s towels etc. with no problem! Dee (one of the housekeepers) who I ask for extra towels ask me “if I minded her vacuuming the room she was cleaning at the time” I ask for towels and “I replied no I didn’t mind” and as soon as she finished I got my towels. I know because I watched her you do things like that when you’re a secret shopper so it’s a habit! One thing I noticed that impressed me that I haven’t seen most places is that they even clean the comforters and blankets when they clean the rooms. I really liked this because think about it people don’t always turn down the covers to sit or sleep etc. To sum it up it was a pleasant home away from home experience just the way we like it. We highly recommend staying there you’re treated with respect and if there is a problem it is handled professionally and quickly as we did experience one problem that had nothing to do with the staff or management it was with some unruly people staying there. Frank handled this problem with a professional attitude and resolved it right after it happened!
Here is just a little quote to remember; “to get respect you have to give respect”!
