Old Pier Motel & Apartments, Destin

We loved the cottage. It was extremely clen and Kathi was so very helpful. If we are ever in the Destin area again we would definitely stay again.

Best bang for your buck! For half the price you would pay to stay anywhere else in Destin you get - A two minute walk to the beach, a spotless efficiency​ apartment,​ a gas grill outside each unit, owner provides umbrellas,​ chairs, sand toys, boogie boards, etc. AND last but not least, the owner Kathy is sooo nice, helpful & will treat you like family! We will be making many return trips to Old Pier & will be spreading the word to all our friends & family.

Why would anyone invest the time and expense of driving eight hours or flying four, to stay anywhere in Destin that you can’t walk to the beach. While staying at the Old Pier Motel, I walked the one block to the beach early in the morning with the sun coming up, later at noon for prime time swimming hours, and again when the sun was going down in the evening. The best part is I did not have to worry about what others wanted to do, wait for anyone to be ready, try to keep them happy, get them in the car, battle the traffic, and bring them home when they complained that the water was too salty. It was, “I’ll be at the beach, come and go as you please.” In most cases there is a hefty price to pay for this huge feature, but not a the Old Pier as we found the rates more than reasonable. You save even more when you figure in full kitchen appliances, an outdoor gas grill for each unit, and the free use of beach chairs, toys, and umbrellas. I also saw someone connect to the wireless network that the motel had. In each unit you will find a bedroom (with a queen and double bed), a living room/kitchen, and a bathroom with shower that separates the two rooms. Each unit has its own modern central air unit with an easy to use thermostat to give you the relief that you need after coming in from the beach. If you’re looking for something different, there are several other units that are managed by the owner. (Including a two bedroom house across the street.) In Destin, if you want a Mercedes, and are willing to pay Mercedes prices, you can find one, but if you want an economical, clean, classic car, parked 500 feet from the beach, this is the place. To close, If I had another 300 words, I could talk about the graciousness of the owner, but I’ll sum it up by saying she treated us like family.

For the past couple of years our 6 year old son has been wanting to go to "the beach". I have a friend who recommend we stay here...that it is very clean and most important of all....very reasonable. I am so fortunate to have found "Old Pier Motel" as it was a most excellent stay and so close to the beach. To be able to make my son's wish come true and to see the look on his face when he saw the beach for the first time was PRICELESS!!!!....my family and I enjoyed conversations with Kathi and let me tell you she goes above and beyond for her guests!!...beach toys for kids are provided as well as chairs and umbrella's...we had such a wonderful time and would highly recommend this place to all....we thank you Kathi for our stay at Old Pier and hope to be back again some day!!! ~The Kessler Family~

We found this place by accident while driving around on our last day of vacation about 3 years ago. We decided to stay another night and we were given a better rate and it was much closer to the beach than where we stayed previously. Since then, we have come back about 3 times. We love it...clean, friendly, no noise problems, and private. Can't wait to go back again! The Elrods

My children and I were in Destin for a couple of days and had not reserved a room prior to our visit. We were driving around looking for a reasonably priced place to stay when we came upon the motel. Kathy was very sweet and helped me out with a great rate. The kids had a blast at the beach, which was within walking distance from the hotel. The room was perfect for us. Thanks Kathy for making our stay enjoyable.

We literally drove in off the highway to check their rates and 10 minutes later they were checking us into our room in the middle of a blinding rainstorm. It was not fancy but it was very clean, very comfortable, quite homey and even had a microwave, fridge and a washer and dryer (in our unit). We stayed for several days, walking to the beach every day and enjoying a family vacation completely free from hustle and bustle. Old Pier has a kind of laid back old charm that is fairly hard to come by these days. We will definitely be going back and this time we will be staying a bit longer.

My husband and I spent four days in unit #3. We are in our early 30s and it was a perfect base for our stay in Destin. Central to highway 98, Publix, Fresh Market, Target, and Walmart. It is a short walk to a beautiful stretch of beach. About the room: It is one of four units. The decor is from the 70s and it is a little dark, but after the first day we didn't notice it. It has a small kitchen with a full size stove and fridge. The bedroom is located in the back of the unit and it was super quiet - we slept great everynight. It has central air and a decent sized bathroom. Beachchairs, toys, and umbrellas are provided which saves you from having to rent or purchase. The owner, Kathy, is a very nice woman and when we left she told us that we "came as renters and left as family." We would stay again and we hope to be back soon.

We stayed at the raised house across the street during our visit and couldn't have been more pleased! It is BEAUTIFUL! The view of the beach is fantastic. Kathy, the manager, was very helpful and gave us a great rate. We will be back often!! Thanks for making our vacation the best we've ever experienced! Kyle
