Love this Motel....go once a year!
By Teri, 07/02/09
My husbands family brought me to this hotel in 2004 and I have been back every year! My husbands dad visited this motel when he was a child. We love the area, it is nice to let our children run in the grass outside the pool and go from room to room and not worry that they will be taken. The rooms are a little outdated, but with young kids, we don't need anything too fancy! The only thing we get frustrated with is the key to the gate coming from the beach, it can be a little tricky sometimes to get the gate open. Whenever we bring somebody new, they always want to come back!! I do not reccomend someone stay here who has to have the best of everything! But for someone wanting a nice relaxing carefree vacation, give it a shot! We will come here every year!!

Great funky little motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/16/09
We loved staying at this family owned and operated friendly motel. Great location, clean beach with walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Just a short drive to Jax beach. Pool was nice, with the Lemon "bar" right next to it. Not a 4 star, but is perfect for a relaxing vacation. Some of the room features could be updated or fixed and every room has a view of the ocean! YES WE WILL BE BACK.

Visit here several times a year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/08
Let me first say this location of the Sea Horse is excellent. This is a true "beach hotel". All the rooms on the second floor have an ocean view. Lemon Bar is always fantastic - great drinks! Employees there are always friendly and very helpful. Like I said, we stay at this hotel seveal times a year. EXCELLENT PLACE!

Spring Get Away
By Michele, 03/17/08
loved the location, clean rooms, comfy beds, beautifull beachfront views. The Lemon Bar was great lost of people out partying in the sun, hotel took great care to keep the noise down to a low roar. Poolside not very private during bar hours. Area shops and restaurants cozy and close.

Family reunion
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/07
This is a great place for a family gathering with large to small kids. The grass area around the pool makes a very good playground. The security makes you feel safe to let the kids roam from room to room to visit their relatives. Not a place for people who demand five star accomodations but very adequate and comfortable. We have about eight downstairs rooms booked annually FFFFFFFun place.

Nice Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/07
Not Fancy. Quite Secure. Lots of restaurants and Lounges to walk to. Lemon Bar(Outside/Poolside) can be loud if trying to sleep but why not party instead? Old Folks and very conservative families may not enjoy it.

VERY PLEASED
By Cruiservette, 05/09/07
Prior to making a reservations I read all the reviews, good and bad. Decided to book a room for a couple of days. Took a 1st floor to the side of the pool. The staff was pleasant and helpfuf, the room was clean and everything was as advertised. There is a nice little area that you drive thru to enter the hotel that has restaurants. The location is excellent and easy to find. While this is not the quality of a Ritz or upper end Marriott I'd definetly stay here again.

very noisy lemon bar warning
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/24/07
This used to be a great place....a small old Florida style hotel with less than 50 rooms....and maybe it still is from November to February when the Lemon Bar is not open...however....The Lemon Bar takes up 1/2 of the oceanfront space right where the hotel room guests are trying to enjoy the pool and sunshine (and I mean right there...the bar wraps around part of the pool area). We estimated there were at least 125 bar patrons the afternoon we were there. Most hotel guests gave up up being by the pool due to the noise and lack of privacy. I observed one family left due to overheard profanity. I closed the doorwall of my room and still could hear the noise from the bar. The bar is allowed to run regular bar hours, which means if there is a good crowd they will be open till 11PM ont a Sunday and later on the weekends. This information is not provided on the website and from the responses I got from my inquiries of the staff, it was clear to me they were discouraged from providing good information about the bar. Clearly this is now their cash cow. Considering I did not get to enjoy the facility, it clearly is no longer a good value given a cost of more than $130 for one night.

50's Beachfront Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/06
Excellent ocean view, clean room, fantastic location. While this hotel doesn't offer some of the features you might get in a brand new facility (restaurant, room service, electronic keys, etc.) the rooms were clean and the staff did everything they could to make my in-laws stay pleasant. If you're expecting the Four Season's than you won't be happy with the Sea Horse or the Sea Turtle (right next door), but if you can handle a two story cinderblock hotel right on the ocean - give it a go. Town Center is right out the front door and there are restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shopping within a few steps.
