No three day minimum either!!
By Patsy, 5/14/12
If ever I'm in Gainesville again, I will be staying at the Rush Lake Motel! It is clean and comfortable, and each room has a balcony that looks inward to the pool or the pond instead of out to the road. Very cool. It's location is great too! Close to UF's campus, it's also a short shot to restaurant row on Archer and a short shot the other way to downtown. No fuss, no big frills - just a venerable 50's hotel with all the right plusses, especially the friendly staff!

Quaint
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/10
This motel is not among the big name 5 star hotels, but it should be at least under privately owned. The room was very clean and comfortable. With it's roomy bathrooms and sleeping/communal areas it is easy to manuverin. It also has adjoining rooms available for big families or groups of people. I did not have to share a sink or have to wait to use the sink in the bathroom because they have a vanity area outside the bathroom as well. The outside was quaint rustic looking and had decorative "privacy plants" all around. The back patio was nice and had seating for 3 people. Though the rooms are sparcly furnished they are still clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to family, friends, and school away teams.

We Loved our stay at the Russ Lake
By Samantha, 7/21/10
We Loved staying there the people at that place was so nice to us. I meet alot of new people and nice people. My Mother had back surgery at Shands and we has no problem cause the room we had was really clean and anytime we needed something the people that worked there got what we and was very nice about. We go to Shands several times a year and they always give us good service.

This place was horrible!!!
By txgirl, 9/8/08
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a Gator game and we were appalled at the quality of the room! I have traveled through Europe and have stayed in better hostels than this place. The concrete block walls made me feel like I was in prison, the A/C unit would not stay cool and was so filled with mildew that we both woke up congested. Definitely not worth the money...I am staying in Ocala where I do not have to worry about the 2 night minimum! Would not stay here again!!!

Nice staff wonderful service
By Jamagapeach, 9/4/08
I like how they keep the rooms and area clean but other than that bugs and roaches from outside will creep in your room if you leave the door or patio door open due to the fact that the place is surrounded by trees where these little insect happen to live and waiting to come sleep inside with you. But it's worth the money you pay just don't invite the critters inside

My stay was worth my money
By Kimecia, 4/8/08
I was in town for a organization week, we were kick out of a so called five star hotel at 5 a.m. (Paramont) and Rush Lake welcomed us with open arms. From the outside it wasn't very attractive, it give off an old cabin look and it was very dark. But upon entering the rooms I was pleased to see that the rooms where clean and I loved the view of the swimming pool from our window. The bathroom was very roomy and the double bed room was very spacious. It was also very quiet, so that's always a plus. All in all, I will be going beack to that hotel this summer. *THE PRICES ARE UNBEATABLE*

You get what you pay for!
By GiG, 3/26/08
This is by far the cheapest in town. About 35-50% cheaper than the surronding hotel/motels. However, the room we stayed- I saw a roach, I had to ask the front desk for extra toilet tissue, and change the sheets. Overall, the staff was very nice and professional, but the cleanliness is questionable.

Good stay good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/07
I stayed at this motel because it was close to Shands hospital since a loved one was a patient there. I was impressed with the outside surroundings which pleasantly displayed a little but of vegetation still undeveloped. The room was clean, and the comforters looked brand new. The bed was extremely comfortable. There is a path that leads to Shands but it is not adviseable to walk alone, and the hospital front lobby warned that although nothing has happenend in a few years, women should not walk by themselves through that short-cut path to the hospital. I only stayed one evening.
